woah4
Thanks! I have it done now, it's great. Like the look of it, will just have to remember to turn them off lol
volvoskiah
How does the car idle with the iac removed? does it idle really low?
woah4
It did, at first it wouldn't idle at all, but I lengthened the rod between the throttle and throttle body, and tightened the cable up a tad, and it is right where I want it to be, 850rpm or so. It doesn't seem to dip down with ac on or off, doesn't miss a beat. I like the idle more now to be honest, it sounds a little different, it's more... Consistent? I don't know, but it works for me. Made my intake alot simpler too, so that was a benefit. I figured if I don't like it, I have all the stuff and will just re install it. But so far, Id like to keep it as is. Will have to see how it is in the cold, but I don't anticipate any problems. Cheers, -Billy
woah4
Ordered the adjustable camber plates I made a thread about in the performance mods section, other than that still waiting on my 19t housing (getting ridiculous) and got a new O2 today, will toss that in later. Also got a pipe welded with a flange for my BOV, so I can get that installed next week. Car will also be getting the muffler removed, it's too subtle and I have some clearance issues atm
woah4
FINALLY 19T arrived. Now I have a project for next weekend lol. Been having a weird issue with the car lately though, it runs fine for about 2 hours on a long drive, then all of a sudden my narrowband will start to read lean and my instant fuel mileage will become awful, i tried stopping and restarting the car, changing ecu's etc. to no avail, if i continue to drive it for maybe 45 mins? it will go back to running maxed out rich on the gauge, and getting good mileage, same if i leave it overnight, next day it will run fine. problem does not occur unless I drive the car for id say at least 2 consecutive hours. also, If i give it throttle when it is running like that, the car feels MUCH better, much more responsive and quicker. it richens out at WOT as it should, but still not as much as it does usually. Im thinking maybe O2, Coolant temp sensor, and TPS? I have no codes, it is just strange that it seems time related. any input is appriciated, cheers! -Billy
woah4
Ok here are some pictures! Did the foglight mod, really happy with it And with the American light switch too Got my kinugawa actuator And got my Ebay Camber plates, there are more pictures of them in my post in performance. I will be installing them this Saturday, as well as hopefully my 19t if I get the gaskets I need in time, otherwise that will go in a few weeks from now. Also going to be hooking up my MBC in parallel to my HD TCV, It seems to be having issues limiting boost, perhaps due to the new actuator. Regardless, I spiked to 24psi last night, no damage but certainly don't want that to happen again. I will set the MBC for 17-18 psi and that should be good. Then the TCV can still regulate early onset, which I would like to retain. More later! Cheers, -Billy
woah4
Ok! Officially a 19t'd 850. Have to break the turbo in still, but it's seems to run good for now. Also did the camber plates, got rid of quite a few suspension noises I had, as well as making the ride somewhat more tolerable. I will be posting pictures later! I'm a little exhausted ATM lol. woah4
Ok here are some pictures of the turbo swap. Went pretty good except for one broken stud on the manifold, Which I now need to replace. Oh well, just an excuse for an R or ATP manifold. Broken in now, seems to pull along nicely. Enjoy! Also did my camber plates, here are some pictures of them; Yes Yes, the engine bay is dirty. Its a daily! I'm working on it lol. Also took off my muffler today, sounds pretty throaty, not TOO loud, car still has a magnaflow highflow cat and magnaflow resonator on it, I was having clearance issues with my muffler and my hitch which is why I removed it. Going to the track friday, hopefully this 19t works good. thats it for now! Cheers, -Billy
woah4
Car now running m4.4 out of a 98 s70 t5m, the difference it made is incredible. Also, I have the 7psi actuator spring in now, the car feels much better. It holds 16psi to redline (with my other ecu) whereas with the 14psi spring it was 20psi, and with the 4 lb spring it would hardly run 10lbs. Looking at installing a new headunit and doing some window tint, I have also considered plasti-dipping the wheels black or gunmetal, any thoughts? woah4
Had it at the track tonight, was very cold and had a hard time with traction. Stock tune and boost (on 98 s70 t5m ecu) ran a 15.2 at 92 mph. Also on my snow tires lol. It will get a lot better next year I hope, after I get a wideband and can play with the tuning a bit. I have new 8inch 300lb Afco springs from jegs in the front coilovers now, and I am using my Monroe rear shocks with all other TA equipment. The car rides a MILLION times better than it did with the TA front springs and rear shocks. I'm very happy with this set up now. I have HID's in the fogs now, and have ditched my HID highs for some 100w bulbs, not as good but instant on instant off, which is important. Reinstalled my IAC, car was running ok without it but on cold starts it would have a hard time idling, once warmed up it was fine but with winter coming up I wanted to make sure it would be ok so I got it back in there. Otherwise other than some new engine mounts (right lower and lower torque mount) it's just as it was before, I had HARDCORE vibration on the highway, at about 65-70 mph 110-120kmh that I could not figure out, turns out the right mount was totally shot and let the engine go up and down in a side to side twist motion, which moved the tranny and everything and made my vibration, new mounts and it's all good now. Still working on getting my other engine together but money is holding me back as I'm going to my first year of college this January so I need to set some aside lol. Last thing, i cannot believe the difference having this ecu has made in the car, because I was able to get rid of my CEL's the car no longer pulls timing and goes great! I can honestly say if anyone is disappointed with the performance of their car, make sure you have no codes before you buy an aftermarket ecu or something, I bought a 17psi speed tuning ecu which pulls timing on my car, and is slower than my stock s70 ecu just because it is unhappy. Anyway most people already know that, but wanted to say so anyhow. That's it for now, winter duty calls so the fun is probably over for this year. woah4
Got a good deal at the wreckers today. Got some mint v70 tails as well as a rust free v70 hatch! And a new drivers side axle for $200. The hatch is dark red but I've got it on the car and rust checked it like crazy, I'll get it painted next year probably. For now it's ok
ben.oniga
Hey nice car! I read through all that and saw you're from Kitchener! I am as well! Your friend with the read T5 wagon, does he go to Conestoga? I recall seeing that in the parking lot at the Cambridge campus !
woah4
No he doesn't. I think his ex might have gone there and he would have picked her up a lot. My girl goes there too so my car goes through there a lot also lol. He has since sold the red car anyway, I grabbed his white injectors and roof racks before he got rid of it lol. We should meet up sometime if you are around, hard to find people into these cars too lol. Cheers, Billy
woah4
Installed new brakes all around, new drivers side wheel bearing, and received my wideband today, should hopefully have that in tommarow, then I can start working on my tune. Also I have plans to take a page from claymore's book and twin charge my car, using an M90 supercharger off a Grand Prix if I can make it fit where the AC compressor was. Might have to find one off a thunderbird supercoupe as I believe they are shorter, I will see how the gtp one fits and go from there.
