jschaefer7406
Hello all, Anyone know the original tire speed rating for the S70 AWD? Fuel door includes the size, but didn't see speed or load rating... Need new tires for my 2000 soon. Going with 205/55R16's instead of the 195/65R15's on the car now. Has S rated tires installed now and handles fine to me (very tight after the addition of a rear sway bar). The tires I'm after are available in T and H speed ratings, so either is a step up from S. Obviously the H cost a bit more, but are they worth it? How much difference in handling is there between the two? Just curious as to what Volvo spec'd the car with. Most tire sites say H rated was OE, but they've been known to be wrong before. Anyone? Thanks, Joe
burnout8488
It's either T or H... gonna lean more towards T though considering it came with 15" tires stock. Vaguely remember hearing this, I was on the phone with Yokohama a few weeks ago about a warranty claim and I believe they mentioned it. H or V rated tires usually have less of a warranty - I believe they use a softer compound as the speed rating increases. Can't comment on the difference in handling between the two though. jschaefer7406
Thanks for the info Alex. Warranty on the two is the same, believe it or not. That is an important factor for me, as I'd rather have a longer wearing, smooth and quiet tire over a "performance" tire. Maybe I'm just getting old ... The set that's on the car now have 105k miles on them, and the warranty was 80k. They're still above the wear bars. I'd say I got my money's worth .
