4Boys
Just wondering what those of you who have installed a nav. unit used as a vehicle speed sensor connection. I'm thinking of using the signal wire to the speedometer. Unit is a Pioneer AVIC D-
Ghost Shadow
been a while but should be looking for a yellow/black wire at the radio harnes IIRC
4Boys
You mean the speedometer right . Shouldn't be a vss sig. at the radio harness.
Ghost Shadow
why do you ask if you second guess my info? If i meant behind the cluster, i would have said that. I did say in the radio harness. AND IIRC = IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY YES, it is the yellow/Black at the radio harness, i did remember correctly
4Boys
I was unaware my gesture as subtle as mine was would illicit a narcissistic rant based on a question. However I appreciate you taking time to respond and I will look into your advice. Suggest you not take your self too serioulsy in the future. Ghost Shadow
Don't ask if you can't handle the answer. Use the search function like everyone else does next time. This has been answered many times before. You ask a question regarding 12 volt. An area I take seriously since it's my livelihood.

Ghost Shadow
Applies to all 850s? now this is really from memory, my 94 didnt have it iirc. i do remember going to the abs sensor up front. but my 95 glt na had it behind the radio. Dont know if i didnt know to look at the radio harness or what. if the radio harness has a yellow/black and when you use a radio harness and on the oposite side there is nothing connected...thats is the vss wire then. i honestly cant be for sure, since its really been a long time since i seen behind a 96 and older

I pulled up some '96 schematics and they have VSS going to the radio. I need to check on my 850 because I need to wire up my dead reckoning GPS receiver for the carpc. Serge
Just checked on the '95, no VSS wire at the radio harness. Dang, I was hoping it was there for easy access. I'll end up tapping the one from the gauge cluster (same colors).
Serge
Found it. Behind the gauge cluster there is a cover that you can remove (use a utility knife to cut part of the 4 sides). Behind that there will be 2 male blade connectors. These should output a digital signal of 24 pulses per tire revolution (both are the same). Non-invasive and simple way to access the VSS. Specifically intended for accessories that need a vehicle speed signal.
4Boys
Talk about perfect timing. I removed my gauge cluster earlier today to repalce the odometer gear and to look for a vss wire connection Thanks for making it easier.
