Ruhl98t5wag
Just switched at 30K in the busy, hard working AW40 on the 960, from regular Valvoline Dex/Merc to MaxLife. Fluid was on the medium amber side, shifting was starting to be less smooth, like butter now. Going in the turbo next. Walmart-16.00 gal.
config
Awesome and timely info. Bought a 2000 V70R a couple months ago and wasn't sure when the last time a drain/fill was done so going to use this Maxlife Valvoline. I don't have any shifting issues but am playing it safe. Thanks!

DonDavis
My daughter's '03 S60 has the same transmission issues described here. Did the pump and fill flush about a year ago with T-IV and it worked well. Replaced the servo cover at the same time. She called me the other day saying the issues have returned. Poked around the web and found out about the Maxlife Valvoline. Went to Walmart and it was being cleared out at $4 per quart. I bought the remaining 8 quarts they had. Went to another Walmart to get the rest but that location wasn't discontinuing it so the price was $4.97 per quart and 16.97 per gallon. And, get this, Walmart will not price match other Walmarts. Didn't know that. On the way home I stopped in Autozone to see what they had. It was $13.50 per gallon! Score!! Bought what I needed there and returned the Walmart purchases. Heading out shortly to do the flush. I really think we'll probably end up replacing the transmission. She loves the car, it's in great condition and she takes care of it. I saw on Matthew's site that a guy put a V70 transmission in his S60 and he was very pleased. What are my replacement transmission options? Is there any truth the transmission problems are mostly S60? If I can use a different model transmission, which one would be preferred? If it were mine, I'd put a manual gearbox in it, but she says no way. She knows what she likes and I respect that.
