BlackT5
My 00R is having vibration/griding issues and i'm wondering if it's an axle. They are both new EMPIs with less than 1k miles though. I just replaced the driver outer tie rod cause the ball joint was shot, then started noticing this other noise a bit more. Only happens when I turn right and only when in gear. I replaced the driver fr wheel bearing last night with a nearly new one and it seems even worse this morning. I was supposed to take the car on a trip this weekend.. not now, unless it's an easy fix cause I just don't have the time to do anything major right now. Going to make sure the axle is seated in the trans when I get home and check to make sure the tie rod is tight. It feels as though the noise is coming from the driver side front. The driveshaft is currently not installed. Thoughts?
NEU
Not sure about grinding, but how are your motor mounts, control arms and subframe? I had vibration when they started going bad one by one.
BlackT5
I'll look at the mounts tonight. The only one I replaced during the swap was the upper torque mount since it was shot. Plus I added the custom Hussien Holland side trans bracket. That all looked good, but I will double check that everything is tight. I hate this kinda shit. NEU
I'd replace them all anyway, cause if the top mount was shot chances are they led to it. Plus if you run it as AWD you want good conditon mount or you'll destroy the driveshaft front cv joint. Just make sure you replace the passenger side mount with the stiffer one for the 302 brakes, not the softer one for the 280 brakes. And you can reuse the AWD shim under the original mount, it just clips on.
BlackT5
I think it was a loose mud flap on the passenger side. lol. It only seemed to do it when it was raining. I just drove 600kms without issue
