JOHN_CENA
I recently bought a headunit for my 96 850R. It was wired up before for a 94 850. The problem is, is that my R has all the speakers wired up through the amp. I can get the after market HU to start up and do things, but no sound. I figured that by pulling the amp wire from the stock headunit that when I pulled it and started playing a CD in the stock HU, I get no sound. So I am looking for a way to bypass the amp or to tap into it. Any ideas?
BEJinFBK
Follow the harness back about a foot. You'll find a set of foam wrapped connectors identical to the ones that you're already plugged into. Unwrap, unplug and use that set to plug in the new HU. JOHN_CENA
D'oh! Got it. For anyone else googling how to get their radio to work in an R series 850: The car has a factory amp. The way it is wired up is that the oem headunit has 2 "splice" wires that connect the sc 815 / 816 to the amp. Its all behind that foam crap that is wrapped on the wiring. Follow it about 10 inches, you will see two plugs. Unplug those, and plug in your aftermarket stereo (wired up correctly with the harness of course.) And boom your done. You can remove the amp, or install a different one or try to use the factory amp but I said screw it, my radio is now loud enough.
