gdizzle
Noob question - if they are welded does that mean they are two pieces that some idiot welded into one pieces? A noob would think that if they were one piece in the first place they wouldn't need that welding. I found this post that talks about genuine Work Ewing 2-pc's possibly being welded like that: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?966987-what-wheels-are-these&p=12924827#post12924827 Lots of others too: http://goo.gl/m2hff Work ewings always start life as three piece wheels. Typically the inner barrel is welded to the outer lip and then the wheel center is bolted in, making them two pc wheels. In my case, the center is sandwiched between the inner and outer and then welded. Making them a one pc wheel.
matt1122
Alright, so then they are marketed as "1-piece" or "2-piece" even though they are of "3-piece" construction, I guess. So all that really changes is you can't take the pieces apart to powdercoat or replace individual components?
Chilled man
3 piece wheels mean 3 pieces not one .... Maybe he meant three total wheels lol

So all that really changes is you can't take the pieces apart to powdercoat or replace individual components? They aren't marketed as anything anymore since they haven't been made in years. These wheels are unicorn wheels. They are damn near impossible to find. When you weld things together they become one. It's not rocket science. What changes is the fact that I can't rebarrel them with different sized barrels and lips to make them fit my car. That simple fact makes them utterly useless to me. Ghost Shadow
that is a three piece wheel with a welded seam. My 3piece volks/rays from japan circa 2004-2006 have a welded seam too. but front face was able to be unbolted to have refinished. all the older japanese wheels i have ran accross, worx, advan, and my rays all started as 3 pieces with the barrel welded together for strength. so mine are by todays terms a two piece wheel and yours are a one piece wheel. it seems like your wheels and mine are from around the same era. Burn-E
3 piece wheels mean 3 pieces not one .... Maybe he meant three total wheels lol THIS (for Matt1122). Greg's seller has a presence on a number of stance and wheel sites and has sold a number of wheel sets. Everyone who deals with these sites on a regular basis knows that a 2 or 3 piece wheel means the pieces separate when you unbolt them. Multi piece wheels generally have a higher value than 1 piece. So the seller is either being facile for his own benefit or he's an idiot who didn't look carefully at what he is selling.
Ghost Shadow
back then it was marketed as "3 piece construction" forged one piece wheel, i had a situation with a japanese "3 piece" wheel before. but if dude is well known...then he's just to fuck someone over.
