Installed An Infinity Basslink Today

So that harness will let you use the 901 with the factory amp and run the Basslink using the RCAs????

I have a basslink as well, absolutely love it, and was sad that I wasn't going to be able to use it with a factory head unit and I wasn't about to tap into all of the speakers for signal.

yeah its basically like an extension of the din plug, with rcas spliced in. Its been working fine so far and really simplifies the installation of a sub for these head units.

Wish I created this thread BEFORE I wired up the sub! I would have gone the same route and hopefully gotten a little better SQ out of it.

I have a Basslink as well. Had it installed in my old Saff Coupe. In the C70, the amp is in the trunk and I used the pass-through adapter with RCAs where the DIN connector hit the amp (same connection as at the head unit), so I only had to run power to the trunk. I am going to put it in my new coupe, but have not gotten to it yet. Definite a good unit in my experience. I have had it for many years and many cars. And, you still keep most of your trunk.

Where did you connect your ground? I don't recall where I hooked mine up last time.

Good stuff - and yeah, I love how it barely takes up any space in the trunk. Just drove around with 4 16" wheels in the back with no space issues whatsoever.

I grounded mine to the rear shock mount plate. (blockoff plate on the AWD cars since the shocks are part of the subframe) The plate is insulated with some rubber coating on the bottom, but I figured the current will flow through the bolt and threads into the body.

I can't find my old basslink install thread, so posting in this one (sorry). I am looking at either getting some bass blockers for my front door speakers, or else using the 901's EQ to adjust the front crossover level, as I'm getting some annoying vibration/buzz at times. The internal EQ is currently set to the V70/wagon EQ setting. I am running the RCAs from the HU to the Basslink. If I change the EQ to cutoff the bass from the front door speakers, won't that cut part of the signal to the basslink too? If not, then what would be a good cutoff level for the fronts to eliminate the buzz? It's been awhile since I installed them, and am pretty sure they are Polk DBS. Andy will probably remember.

{Edit: I found the old thread, and it is locked. Here's my setup: SC-901, factory 4x40 amp, Polk Audio db651 co-axials in front, factory speakers in rear (w/ D-pillar tweeters), and an Infinity Basslink connected to an ebay amp harness. }

Does the ebay amp harness have a front and rear plug on it? my sub is hooked up through the rear plug so its independant from whatever i do to the front speakers.

Either way, what i would do is play whatever music makes it buzz, turn it up so it buzzes and then eq it til it goes away but still sounds good. eq your sub too (i messed with my amp settings and now its perfect).

Also, just put the 901 eq on Custom, thats what ive done from day 1.

I went into the hidden EQ and re-set everything. I had serious doubts about my ability to get the settings to sound good, so had previously just set it to the factory "V70" setting. Sounds much better now! I backed off on the lower frequencies from the front and made some other adjustments. The buzz from the front is gone and overall the whole system sounds a lot better to me. Interestingly, I had to turn up the volume on the BassLink, though. Looks like it was getting most of its feed from the front channels.
