HurkyPangles
Hello! So I noticed about two days ago that my dash lights went out in my car for the guages. Also, I cannot even remember, but I think there are supposed to be lights on the gear select as well for saying it's in park, drive, etc. but that isn't lighting up either. All status lights in the dash do work though, like high beams, blinkers, etc. It is just the backlighting for the guages. I have checked all the fuses, and they seem to be intact, and I have checked to make sure I did not have the dimming dial turned all the way down. Anyone ever run into something like this before? I had my car taken in about two weeks ago to a dealership in order to redo the whole AC system as it wasn't working. The lights were fine after that, but maybe a connection was loose and just came out? What should I look for? It sucks having to use my cellphone to light up my dash to see my speed and fuel at night :/ Thank you for your help!
jschaefer7406
Hello, Being you've already checked the fuses, I'd suspect either the headlamp switch or dimmer rheostat. Have you tried the headlamp switch in both the parking lamp position and low beam position? Some of these had a recall on the headlamp switch, can't remember for sure what years... Both switches are easy to pop out and check connections, but a loose connection would be odd unless it was disturbed. And yes, gearshift indicator is supposed to illuminate (even though mine has been burnt out for years ) Hope this helps, Joe

It has been disturbed recently by taking the whole dash apart for working on the AC, so I am just wondering if maybe that did come loose after reassembly by the shop.
