burnout8488
I guess a little scuffing on the surfaces isn't the worst thing as long as too much material isn't removed. The scuffs should create a little "tooth" for the sealant to bite into. Mine leaked last time for no apparent reason, when I removed the cam cover there was a trace of oil that you could see seeping out of the rear of the cover. I covered everything by the book using a roller and the correct amount of Volvo sealant, no idea why that happened. Here's to hoping it goes a bit better this time, just finished sealing it up tonight.
Keaton85
You guys are great!! taking a simple task and turning it into a science project. Get some razer blades and just scrap off the high spots. if there is some coloring left over from the old stuff then who cares! it will not effect anything. Quick down and dirty, no sand paper or strippers involved
Mike_Driver
HEY HEY HEY... If we want to have strippers around when we are working on our cars then let us. Oh wait, you were talking about the paint stripper.... carry on.
Ihatespeedbumps
For those worried about taking too much material from the mating surfaces, are you aware Volvo states the anaerobic sealer will seal a gap up to .010in? I've used a variety of methods, from sand paper to aircraft stripper and on to pneumatic devices with 3M pads. I've yet to had a sealing issue.
