Kit Vexed
hey guys im getting ready to do the delta links on my T5-R. i know i know, "you dont need the tool... here's what i did..." etc i'd rather use the tool. i've read torching, pulling, chiseling, prying and everything everyone has tried on this site and a few others.. you've got the fuel lines on the right side, and brake lines on the left so im not trying to "torch" bend or bang or damage anything.. the tool is made for this job and im sure someone bought it and hasnt used their tool since lol.. Matthew has one up for rent on his site and i have tried to contact him, but to no avail. if someone knows him or a way i can contact him more directly that would be great. the volvo tool is # 999 5497 i just dont want to get under there and have crazy issues and end up needing the tool anyways, ya know? i dont want any hangups in removal/installation. whatever info, collateral, or gifts you like - i can provide in exchange.. you're doing me a GREAT favor. thank you guys

JVC
there is one being passed around on matthewsvolvosite, might want to check over tharrr http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/tag/delta-link-tool Clearly you didn't read... He already checked MVS. I've thought about having someone make that tool for me, even if its not as pretty as the Volvo one.
Kit Vexed
yes i checked MVS and wrote him. haven't heard back but it's only been a couple days.. even if any of ya'll have made a make-shift puller similar in design as 999 5497 and it works no sweat i'd appreciate that.. i just dont want to hear, "hook up a cable to a truck and slowly idle forward..." lol

Kit Vexed
ultimately i dont want to have to buy this as it's basically a 1 and done job. i never hear ppl replacing delta links more than once.. this is why i posted cause i fig someone somewhere bought this and now have no use for it - so lending isnt a problem. BUT, if borrowing isnt an option, i'll have to buy and become the lendER lol
cn90
Even if you loan it from Matthew Volvo, you pay for shipping. So it will cost you some dollars anyway. So I'd buy it for $125 (website link above), use it then sell it to another person here for $100. So you lose only $25. Then the next person sells it for $75 LOL... PS: Or you can fabricate your own..., see this UK website: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=76405 ----------- The German website Skandix sells this for $65 Euros... http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts/accessories/tools/tools-suspension-steering/fitting-tool-suspension-bushing-rear-axle/1018424/
Kit Vexed
you have been super helpful man so THANK YOU! i went to the OTC tool website and even though it's listed, you have to check availability before ordering? so i emailed with part # and will update. coincidentally, they are out of CO and i have family 1.5 hrs from their base. worst case scenario, i can have my brother head over there with the info and grab it and send it to me to speed things up or if shipping is outrageous =) - borrowing is still the ideal though -
Aequitas_Veritas
I also need to use this tool soon. If you set up a borrowing list, put me on it.
BananaRep
Borrowing the tool is not allways the best option. I borrowed the tool from Matthwe's Volvo site, did one side and while doing the other, the bolt in the tool snapped. So I had to buy a new tool, finish the job and return it to Matthew. So in the end, it did cost me more than if I had bought the tool.
Kit Vexed
than you're of good character.. i could see someone borrowing it, breaking it, and NOT replacing it.. or me getting it back all bent up and someone saying, "man it was fine when i sent it out - i swear! damn UPS must have damaged it.." Kit Vexed
hey guys just wanted to update this. so Matthew got back to me and wanted $175 deposit. upon return he would give me $150 back - essentially charging me only $25 to rent.. - totally reasonable - however, fronting $175, THEN paying for shipping to me, THEN back to Matthew got me thinking even after i get the deposit back, id ended up dishing out like 1/3 of the way to paying and owning my own tool.. so i've purchased the tool and will do both my 850s. i can take my time with it now and if i break it i break it.. it's MINE. if all goes well, when im done i will sell the tool to any of you guys for $100 it was $125 + $23.xx shipping so i'll eat the $50. i will let ya'll know when im done with the job and we'll go from there. thanks guys!
