Brad850
Car in sig. When I get off the throttle at 2-4k it feels like the engine jerks back. Every single mount is 1 year old and tight. Trans fluid is red and full. Is this a sign of auto failure?
cruzer555
Sounds exactly like a mount... Did you also replace the lower torque mount (that one iPd makes a billet version of)?
Q-Ship
Check the mount. No AT is ever toast until a flush & fill doesn't fix it. (Or there are metal parts scattered in your wake)
Brad850
I installed the ipd billet mount a month ago. All oem subframe bushings, oem front mount, oem acorns, poly top mount and the firewall mount is new although I think it's aftermarket. The fluid is 1 year old. Pretty much completely drained tranny from when I did my rms. I know the common saying is to flush your tranny but I don't see that helping in my case? My only guess as to what else it could be is my drivers axle boot has been torn for a while. I've been too lazy to get a boot kit to fix it. Wondering if that has anything to do with it. It's a definite pronounced clunk that I just noticed yesterday.
RobT5M
Have someone sit in the car, foot on brake, and shift thru gears... and maybe rev in n. hopefully you trust them. Sounds like a mount. I have a few more mods then you, 240k miles, and give it the beans every day... 18-20psi. My auto has outlasted my engine. MattyXXL
My auto has outlasted my engine. Thats cause you drive like a bag of dicks.... Just because the mounts are a year old doesnt mean that one was not defective. With these 50-42's you will get nasty shutter before a clutch starts to go, then youll start to slip nasty. Am I correct that it doesnt happen under load just when you let off? Check for missing bolts and nuts on your mounts. like boobert said pop the hood and power brake it a little bit (revving in neutral doesnt do shit) look for excessive movement. Brad850
Planning manual swap december/november so I might not even bother with new mounts until then. That's also why I haven't paid attention to my torn axle boot. Thinking maybe one of the hydros is defective. My trans/subframe bump stop is definitely too close for new mounts. Car vibrates at idle and sometimes I hear a slight rattling under my feet. Betting my downpipe is beginning to touch the front ipd sway. It was definitely touching the rear bar before I dented the exhaust. With such little clearance and a possible defective mount I bet you guys are right. All these little problems are making the car really unpleasant.

Brad850
It's definitely not a normal feeling. It just started happening a few days ago so to me that means something stopped doing it's job.
