WSMCKELVY
I recently bought a used ,spoiler for my 95 850 wagon. It came with mounting brackets (See Pic) however I think I may be missing something. At the very least I must need longer screws. Any clues. If anyone could put up some pics of how the spoiler attaches to the tailgate on an 850, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
johnwartjr
There's a spacer involved in the works, along with longer screws. The bottom one in the pic (the one that would be more forward with the door closed) comes with a longer screw and a nut in the mounting kit.You run the screw through the bracket, through the hinges, through the spacer, and then through the other side of the spoiler bracket, then you run the nut down on it. The rearward one is I believe a little longer in the kit, but doesn't have a nut on the back side. This should help a little. I can snap some pics later if you still need them! http://www.___.com/downloads/850-and-v70-spoiler-instructions.pdf
WSMCKELVY
Thanks I appreciate that. I saw a similar post on Matt's. The problem is that the bracket I have doesn't resemble any of the parts in that post. My bracket looks like a combination of #2 in step 8, and A & B in step 9. The bracket I have fits snugly around the tailgate hinge, and has the two wide holes for the tailgate bolts. My guess is that they came off a very early car, and the design was improved shortly there after.
johnwartjr
This may help: It sounds like you might have an earlier mount arrangement. I bought 2 spoilers, used, and both suppposedly came with the mounting hardware. Between the 2, I was still short a few pieces to mount the spoiler, so I ended up buying a whole new kit. The kit, Volvo P/N 9499234, was about 42 dollars and change at my nearest dealer. $38 from Darrell Waltrip Volvo. If you're going to monkey around with it for very long, or have to search around to get missing bits, it might be worth the $40 to just buy the kit and get it over with. My 2nd spoiler has the 3rd brake light. Need to get a V70 tailgate cover and get it painted, then I'll install it and take this one off.

johnwartjr
The 3rd brake light is on one of the OEM options for 98-00 V70s - but the instructions include how to install it on the 850s as well, so it should be fully compatible. The spoiler with 3rd brake light is P/N 9192030
91shelby
Buy the bracket kit its worth it to avoid the headache of getting halfway thru attaching the thing, only to find it needs something else you dont have, and i believe the 9192030 is for the sedan spoiler
