Boost Addicted
Clunking noise from driver side wheel: When starting from a stop, the last second or so of braking. When slowly going over speed bumps. When turning and accelerating. Thought I even heard it once when I started the car. Everything I can check is tight. Was making the noise before I: Rebuilt strut assembly (including upper spring mount) Installed IPD Sway Bars and Endlinks Installed Polly Sub-frame Inserts Had the Car Aligned It is still making the sound!!!! Axel nut is still staked where it was when I tightened it. Rocked the car back and forth (side to side) no noise Jacked up driver's side wheel, put car in drive so that wheel was turning, turned the steering wheel, no noise. Sway Bar endlinks are torqued to spec. What other tests can I do??? Did the metal adhesive give up between the hub and axle??? But this is not a ping but a clunk. Bad Motor mount??? What other tests can I do?

TIZIO AKA 1 HND MEC
May sound hard to believe, have the same problem time a go, check better the hub bearing first with the car on the ground.
atefitty
Did you ruin the new strut hat when you installed it? You must keep it from turning when you tighten it up. Must use two wrenches on it.
Boost Addicted
Spring seats are new, It made the noise before the struts were out, Car is a 850 T5R, How do I check the hub bearing with the car on the ground?

Boost Addicted
Ok I think the first clunk was the broken upper spring seat. When I put the car back together and there was still a clunk, thought it was the same. When I went through and re-torqued everything, discovered the lug nuts had loosened up. Torqued them, drove some torqued again, clunk gone!
