gdizzle
Yup, and they could have a real nice organized forum section like SS does... but the moderators are too busy flexing their Epeens, deleteing posts that make them look bad, etc to run it properly. Has nothing to do with the moderators.
Piston Slapper
Has nothing to do with the moderators. We were specifically told that VS couldn't have a real classifieds section because there weren't enough moderators. Was that a lie?
Fudge_Brownie
but the moderators are too busy flexing their Epeens, deleteing posts that make them look bad, etc to run it properly.WTF? Obviously I can't ask you to point to a post, but ... what do you think has been deleted to preserve ego? Hell, what has been deleted in general? Besides spam, content around here is rarely removed. I can't point to posts, but I can point to threads, if you'd like. Not sure if deleted posts are archived where moderators can see them.

I can tell you that Oreo frequently puts the effort in to clean up a messy thread, and moves all those posts somewhere else where all the moderators see them.As for the For Sale changes, if you have the original announcement link handy, that'd be helpful. There were several minor reasons, and a few major ones. I don't think it was the way you put it, that there was a shortage of help. I think it was more about general effort involved. The point is that the change was not because moderators were spending too much time protecting their own egos. Burn-E
if you're a supporting member then VS has real classifieds that work just like SS. Once upon a time that wasn't the case but Chuck has since loosened up the restrictions. You don't have to use the ebay like for sale site and can just directly post in that thread so long as you follow the rules of how to post. Which isn't any different from SS. Alden, this is the comment to which Howard is likely referring: I will go over this one more time for the slower members. 1. The for sale forum is actually a hair over 8% more traffic than it had the same month in 2010. So less traffic statement is not valid. There are less replies, but listings are up, as are visitors. Chit chat is not the goal in for sale so I am calling that win. 2. The classifieds are sort of a beta right now to see how they do. As posted earlier, they are not being used so I am taking them down probably. 3. The only reason for the current format is because members were not following the guidelines of for sale. IE title format, price in the title, listing item location. The current format assures that they do those things so the moderators are not wasting time running behind members wiping their asses. You do not even have to be a "supporting member" to disable ads. There is an ad-free option thats something stupid like 1-2 dollars per year. Supporting membership pays for things like the giveaways, bbq grills for carlisle, getting your guys discounts and so on. The ads, pay the 600 dollar a month server bill. Like I said, the classifieds work like they used to - I just sold a turbo by listing it in the Group Buys and For Sale thread directly. Yeah... you can post in that free for all, if you pay for the supporting membership (which I'm going to leave my opinions of out of this discussion) but it's not organized at all. Swedespeed's got the right idea with their categories. FWD/AWD Cars, FWD/AWD Parts, etc. That's what's always been different and why SS's classifieds are nicer. 3. The only reason for the current format is because members were not following the guidelines of for sale. IE title format, price in the title, listing item location. And the new format hasn't changed that... the auction site listings often say 'somewhere in the USA' and 'a million dollars' which is practically no different than the old ads without a location or a price. And those listing are never moderated for that as far as I can tell, which leads to people having to ask in the thread spawned by the auction site "Where the hell is it?" "How much do you want for it?" "WTF couldn't you list that to begin with?"
Burn-E
I've sold and bought more on VS than I have on SS. And it's more specifically the crowd I'm looking for (P80 parts) - so, it all depends on what you're looking for. That, plus I actually wind up buying from / selling to people I know fairly well. You can make it into pickle juice or you can turn it into cash and parts. It's up to you.
RBoy8
FWD/AWD Cars, FWD/AWD Parts, etc. Do you realize how empty any other FS category than these two would be on this forum?
matt1122
The state of the For Sale section has absolutely nothing to do with the moderating team. Volvospeed's ownership's forum philosophy is just significantly different from that of Swedespeed's ownership.

Volvospeed's ownership's forum philosophy is just significantly different from that of Swedespeed's ownership. No doubt about that. VS and the fees associated with it are incredibly different from SS. VS is a community. SS is a business first, community second.

Matty Moo
Something seems wrong with that statement. With what I said or something else? What I stated is spot on unless you read it the wrong way. I'll give just one example. Let's say Vendor fees...... MVS is free. I donate though, Matt's a good cat. VS is about $10/month....maybe less. About what the average is for vendor fees on most decent sized forums for a business with 1-3 employees. SS is $300/month...payable upfront, in 3 month blocks. $3600/year. That being said, there's a reason they only have a few vendors on that site.
