Svenska
Actually, this is getting stranger by the day... I've been driving the car around town all day so far. It seems to be stalling less, BUT the problem now seems to be that from a standstill in first gear (or second gear if I'm doing 15 mph or so), the car will buck a few times, almost like the car is going too slowly for first gear (impossible). Now I'm suspecting the clutch. What could this be? The master & slave cylinders were new as of this March. I'm wondering if the slave isn't retracting enough? I can't figure this out. It still stalls in neutral or in gear only when the RPMs are dropping, such as approaching a stop sign etc. I installed a Volvo-brand flywheel, pressure plate, disc, release bearing, fork for the release bearing, the whole thing. Used new flywheel bolts, EVERYTHING torqued to the appropriate specifications. The car shifts effortlessly with all of these new parts. It's just this first gear issue, I'm wondering if these are related... By the way, none of these things were happening before the clutch was replaced. In taking the transmission out, there are dozens of ancillary parts, hoses, connections that have to be removed. I'm thinking it's more likely some kind of vacuum connection. I don't know. Volvometer
there is a fuse (10A) which powers Iidle air control, wastegate, evap purge solenoid, and ...pcv heater resistor. I've seen cases when that damn heater shorts out and solenoids lose power. So if idle control stops working you may have stalling problems. The easiest solution would be to unplug the heater, and replace the fuse
Svenska
Where is the fuse? In with the others by the firewall?
erikv11
I don't have a turbo model. I'm pretty sure the turbos have that elbow that is hell to get on and off with needle nose pliers. I know which one you mean. I have nothing in that area though. I will look at the tree more closely though. It seems to stall more when it's in gear which makes me think maybe it is the clutch, but it also occasionally stalls in neutral when I'm coasting up to a red light. Weird. If it happens in neutral then it can't be the clutch. It idles beautifully in neutral, no surging or grabbing like it is almost in gear (if it were the clutch). Many NAs do have the little elbow, I've had three and they all did (96, 96, 98), so be sure to look in there with a flashlight before you write it off. '96+ NAs have them, -'95 NAs do not. Source: I've owned two '95 NAs.
