Hi

Was cruising the facebook VS page, when a gentlman posted a link to a certain yellow volvo 850 in cali

I then had it shipped to eastern PA

Then proceeded to sell the parts I have no use for :D

Drove it around the back roads near where I am working on the car, where I proceeded to blow up a turbo coolant line

Engine needed a rebuild anyway, so heres a plug for anyone who might want a T5R engine core :)

Wasn't a big fan of the combination of S90 wheels / a Cetus / and a spare tire :D

So I bought titans

And bought me an engine hoist which brings me to where I am today.

Waiting for a day where I can pull the engine and swap in another engine in better shape. I dont have a ton planned for the car, but we'll see where it goes. I know I plan on repainting the car, I found some old maintainence records going back to 1996 (!) and the dealer decided it was a good idea to put a clear coat on the car, not quite the best thing in sun soaked california :glare:

So next time youll see a post here is when Ill have the engine out and a new one going in !

What are your plans for the car? If you're looking to push the performance I'd recommend a B5244T4/T5. These are found in the 2005+ T5. Cost is about $1,200-1,500 from a wrecker.

If you want something cheaper I'd recommend the B5254T2($500-900). Same as the S60R motor, but has a 9:1 compression ratio instead of 8.5:1.

Do a search on here for RN engine and read your heart out. Good luck!

Eh, Im either set on a 2.4 LPT or an 850 turbo engine. Im looking at a $800 price max aside from turbo and other stuff

Well, got the engine out today. Started around 11:30, finished around 4:45. All the bolts came out without any fuss at all except for 1 of the 3 bolts that holds the downpipe to the turbo. literally the last bolt gave be crap. But its finally out!

I will manual swap it further down the line, the manual swap isn't in the budget at the moment, and the automatic seems to shift through all the gears fine, so for now it will remain auto. Stupid tuition draining my money!
