Grey Bearded One
No, my license plate isn't nuts, I need the nuts that hold the license plate on. I know that they are 6 x 1 mm. The problem is finding metric cap nuts, especially the ones with the flange. Google didn't turn up anything. If I lived in England, I could buy all sorts of stainless nuts, plastic nuts and even nut covers and I could get them in small quantities on Ebay. I started at Home Depot and Lowes then wen to Fastenal but no joy. I'd like to find some blace ones to match my license plate frame but regular steel would be okay too. So, where do I get these things?
survolvo
I searched and searched and seemed the only way I could find the flanged ones were by buying a new license plate surround. I ended up just buying 6mm chrome acorn nuts, with separate 6mm chrome flat washers.

Matty Moo
My local ace hardware has them for 30 cents each. Glad I could help.
Grey Bearded One
It's strange. I'd like to get black ones. Ebay UK has a zillion options. You'd think that America, the land of the consumer would offer me black nuts. The UK has black plastic caps available as well. Can't find those here. I may have to buy some silver ones and paint them.
Grey Bearded One
I will have to check out the local hardware store.

Grey Bearded One
Went to my local hardware store and they had 6 mm acorn nuts. Odd that a megastore like Home Depot wouldn't have them and Fastenal didn't have them but a mom and pop hardware store does. I would have still liked to get something like these . . . but I can't find them locally. Locally meaning the US of A. Ebay UK has all sorts of plastic nut/bolt covers but apparently Americans don't like them.. Next step is a bit of black paint so my silver acorn nuts blend into my license plate frame. iPd Cameron
Well, we did just get our first run of these in from manufacturing... http://www.ipdusa.com/products/10275/121655-billet-acorn-nut-license-plate-dress-up-kit-black Obviously more expensive than cheapy steel stuff, but another option out there we just started making. Billet aluminum, bright dip anodized so will hold their finish nicely and 100% made in the USA.

I love you and iPd, but that has to be the most over-engineered thing I have ever seen. I hope you sell a ton of them, though!
Grey Bearded One
Wowzers! I could get ten sets of steel nuts at Ace Hardware for the cost of one set of those fancy ones. Pretty cool but I think that I'll just hit my steel ones with a bit of model paint to make them black. Billet aluminum? That would mean that each one is machined individually, right? I hope you sell a ton of them, though! lololol, it absolutely is! I thought it a bit silly originally too, but we had a lot of requests for them from P2R owners. We make the billet spark plug cover bolts and the P2 R engines use 2 of these acorn nuts on the fuel rail cover the R engines use. Folks wanted the matching nuts for that so we made them. Just so happens they are the same acorn nut as used on license plates and also as cam cover nuts on all redblock stuff Billet aluminum? That would mean that each one is machined individually, right? Indeed. Each machined individually then bright dip anodized... Hence the price. Not everyone's cup of tea I know, but thought I'd throw that out there as an option.
