Suspended Kit Vexed for 5 days because of that nonsense. It's far from the first time he's been suspended for this kinda BS.

Another quick thought... What are the number of customers happily served vs the what 6 or 7 bitching here? I mean if even 50 percent of the people with ARD tunes having issues they wouldnt be in business anymore correct?

Despite several threads, which have had a lot of information sporadically posted, a lot of it is disjoint and going to be lost. Difficult to parse through, because you have to follow the conversations happening as well. Relevant conversation is great, but we really need people to formulate a well written, concise, but detailed, review. Positive or negative. '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>

There's been a lot of talk lately, but a surprisingly underwhelming response to the new ARD review thread.

And likewise, we have a ton of bandwagon junkies jumping on the newest bandwagon of "let's all sh!t on ARD."

That's true also Bobby. In my defense, I have my doubts about him since before he left IPd. As I said, was given misinformation too many times. And when a guy who is treated like a god gives misinformation, people never question it because he's seen as an expert. On a forum where people come looking for help (technical into I mean) and are given the wrong info, guess it's always bothered me...

Anyway, thread is going down hill. I do think he's a decent guy, I just think people should hear both sides and give some weight to those who haven't been treated so well by him (as Gary and Will have; satisfied customers, but have enough sense to hear both sides) ;).

Yea, I commented a bit on that earlier. I was surprised to see the majority of the reviews are positive. Made me happy though, and reinforced my theory that something goofy happened sometime in the last year. At least, it reinforced it in my tiny little brain.

I wasn't including you in those jumping on the newest bandwagon, Joe. You've been very clear with why you have your doubts, and I completely understand/agree with your stance on what happened.

... But as I've said many times, that doesn't mean those of us who aren't customers are too stupid to see through his crap.

Joe

Am I the only one who read this and laughed?

Joe, I hope that you're missing a word

A little history to remind folks:

April 2011 Lucky leaves IPD:

June 2011 Lucky starts tuning under ARD:

'?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>

September 2011 Lucky on Tuning 101 of M4.3 and M4.4

'?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>

January 2012 Lucky via ARD starts limited tuning for ME7 1999-2000

'?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>

There's at least one tuning map in the thread

February 2012 New ARD website launches

'?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>

February 2012 Lucky starts tuning ME7 01-04

'?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>

This is just to provide some historical context of when specific activities started. And the real momentum of tuning from ARD didn't start until mid 2012 when Lucky started traveling to Calisle and other key Volvo events for dyno days and tuning in person. So to say why has it taken people so long to come forward with issues? Well, as is evident guys will spend months to even a year working away at their build before reaching a specific conclusion on what seems to be the trouble. Not everyone works on their car every day. They live with issues for months on end while trying to sort it out. So I don't think it's fair to conclude that suddenly there's a huge issue. What is apparent is that some customers of ARD were encountering issues as early as mid to late 2012 and in the last 3 months several owners decided to start posting up concerns after deciding they had exhausted all possible avenues and the only real possibility was the tune.

And for those of you trying to sort out how to think through this, you might want to consider reading up on confirmation bias and attitude polarization and how that impacts people who may have already committed to a particular solution for which they have paid money or are moving toward buying something.

But I have noticed a trend (before everything blew up) where a lot of the bigger players in the game were hesitant to rock an ARD tune lately.

Again, that is coming from personal texts/phonecalls/fb messages etc., from some of the people who have been around the volvo game for a decade+. I was talking to them about which tune to get, and wasn't being fed the usual "ARD is GOD." So, I was trying to figure out what happened.

This is a trend worth continuing to consider and seeking out advice around. But it depends on what you mean by a bigger player.

Some guys on here, like Hussein, Justus, Joe, Zappo, mdlimy, B Mac, fwdGTP, Danny to name a few who have higher power builds are not using ARD. Most have gone turbo tuner. The only higher power build I know on the forum right now using ARD is boxpin.

There's more factors like the DIY ethic, and the constantly changing engine configuration to consider as well.

Correct. DIY and constant tinkering contribute to the desire to completely control what your engine is doing rather than depending on someone else. But it's worth asking some of those guys what they would recommend because more than one of them moved away from ARD.

B Mac has it listed in his sig.

you guys are the "mean girls club" of VS.. and somehow you think that's cool?? I dont get it.

If its not important to you why did you go around a give everyone -1's? How does it make you any less of a chump?

My Platinum had an ARD tune and so does my current s70. I also had Lucky build me a desktop diagnostic unit for diagnosing and testing ABS- BCM's, of which he came in thousands less than anybody else that would even consider doing it. The only issue I had was a power supply issue which he fixed in under a week, even after I told him not to worry about a timeframe for it.

If I were to go balls deep into a car, of course I'd read up on it and tune it myself. But three kids and a wife that bitches all the time doesn't allow that. Maybe when I'm retired.

I'm not nutswinging by any means, just sharing my experience. That desktop unit unit is a lifesaver for module issues that involve time, I can throw a module on it and let it sit to see what happens. It's actually easier to test them in-car, but sometimes you run into an issue that is based solely on time over distance/temp.
