Chrisonfire
Here is the spoiler in question. I got this when I purchased my car, but I am not certain that it is OEM. Here is a closer look at the mounting holes. From my searches Ive found that it looks like the OEM wing has mounting holes on the side as well as the bottom? This spoiler only has holes here on the bottom. Im not looking to put any holes through my trunk to mount this think. Any input on how to mount this? MnOpRacing
Your missing the brackets that bolt to the wing and wrap around the sides of the trunk. You don't have to drill any holes in the trunk, the brackets act as clamps (also use 3M double stick tape around the contact point of the wing/trunk) to secure the wing to the trunk. TBM
Whatever you do, do not drill holes in your trunk. Just get the kit above and you're set.

I have tried these mounting clips before but they do not line up with the holes in the spoiler. I also don't understand how ill be able to mount any clip on the bottom holes without the screw head/bracket scratching the trunk lid. Whatever you do, do not drill holes in your trunk. I would never!
ProfessorS70
That is not where holes should be, they are supose ti be on the side, kit wont help you, brackets anyway. I would use double sided tape for the outline and put some glue in the center, permanently elastic glue, like one for the windshields....I did that on my OEM spoiler cause brackets were rusted away, year later still very strong. Ill use a strong double sided tape for sure. I was just hoping there would be a kit I could slap it on with. I'm not familiar with windshield glue or the likes, but im not looking for permanent anything on the trunk, just secure. Looks like I may fab a thin J shaped bracket to secure it to the trunk and use some 3M to to keep it off the trunk lid.

Well double sided tape isn't enough by it self so I went with tape+glue, and glue can be removed...or you can fab some brackets, but scratching the trunk and rust would be a problem, since brackets would be between spoiler and the trunk... MnOpRacing
OK, so I just took these photos of a wing of a 97 sedan. As you can see the mounting points for the brackets are on the side of the wing. Granted this wing is off an 850 but I would think that the mounting would be the same for all 850/S70 sedans. Are you sure that wing isn't off an S90? EDIT: Apparently the S90 just had a small lip for a trunk spoiler and not a wing. So it's not off an S90. MnOpRacing
Thats really odd. I haven't taken a good look at an S70 spoiler but it could be different from an 850, tho it would be odd if Volvo changed how its mounted to the same deck lid (where the spoiler attaches anyway) as an 850. I really want to say that's not an S70 spoiler but I do not have an S70 spoiler to compare it to. This is just off a quick Google search. It looks similar. Could you take a similar photo of your wing?
MnOpRacing
Ok. So after some more searching I found a link on Ebay for a 98 S70 spoiler. Here are the pics. You can see that this OEM spoiler has a cut out on each side for those brackets while yours does not. So you either have a spoiler off of a different car or one from an aftermarket company that requires you to drill into your trunk in order to install it. Personally I would check Ebay or go to a local parts yard and try to find an OEM spoiler in your color.
MnOpRacing
I found this the other day. Apparently the 960 had a wing option.
volvoskiah
His is an aftermarket spoiler that you are supposed to drill through the trunk (2 different styles). I would just go and find another s70 spoiler, usually had for under $50 in a bone yard. I actually have an oem silver one though if you are interested.
