Cold Weather Boost Vs. Hot Weather Boost

Okay maybe this is me being a novice but it seems the car's ecu wouldn't really let the cold air provide a performance boost in turbo charged engines.

On older p80 cars without a bps calculate boost pressure using the map sensor and the maf sensor. If the air is colder and more dense the maf would register more flow and the ecu would calculate that there is more boost than there really is. As such it'll dial back the turbo to maintain a level fuel trim.

The idea that the intercooler works more effectively is also a negative side effect of the cold weather. Because the boost pressure is calculated pre turbo cooling the warm charge of air causes more space between the air molecules and thus lower pressure.

For cars na cars a sense atmosphere is basically like running a small amount of boost all the time. And in that situation would present a performance increase.

I'm sure I'm wrong. I'm just trying to figure out how the computer deals with cold air.

I wouldn't know. The roads over here have been snow/ice covered for almost a week now so flooring it doesn't have much effect when the wheels spin as far as loading the turbo goes. Was -7 this morning, and its supposed to be 39 this Saturday. Glad I don't live next to a river. The plus to it being as cold as it has is that my car's been clean since last Friday. The salt has virtually no effect on the snow when its this cold so it doesn't bombard my car like it will this weekend when this all melts; what a gigantic mess that will be.

Random fact: when dreaming, your brain can not produce new faces. So, every single person in your dream is someone you've seen before. The ones you don't recognize are usually people who you didn't meet, but still saw their face (someone in the car next to you, walking in the mall, etc.)

Evidence to support that even in your wildest dreams, "all you touch and all you see is all your life will ever be".
