2000 S70, Trany Swap. Cel (P1618 P0722)

Back in November, I swapped the auto in my wifes S70 T5 for a known good one from a 98 V70 T5. I know it was good because we took it out to replace it with a manual 5 speed. Since before then the CEL has been on for a number of reasons.

Well I have fixed and replaced a lot and all I am down to now is two codes (down from 8!) P1618 and P0722.

First question: Is the vehicle speed sensor different between a 98 and a 2000 70 series?

Second question: would this cause the transmission to engage and disengage erratically until the fuse for the ETM is pulled and left out for 15 mins? After that it would drive perfect and it has only done it twice since the swap.

My wife has had her S70 T5 for over 9 years and loves it, please help me keep her baby alive. Also I want to get back at working on my 240 turbo and my S60R

Thanks!

yeah a 98 and 2000 are electrical a lot different.

had you changed the TCM ? I guess not. Because with an 98 TCM the car would most likely not drive anywhere.

One solution - get the car to dealer have them to repogram the engine- and the transmission computer.

Second idea, maybe this error is not from the change itself, just your ABS Module is defective.

Just put in a rebuilt ABS module. Also after some research, I found the vehicle speed sensors are different and I just confirmed it now as I still have the old trany. I am going to try and swap them out and see what difference it makes.

I still have the TCM from the 98, don't think it will work as the two cars use different FI systems. Hers is ME7 I think

Thanks

Ok, I just put in the correct vehicle speed sensor (Located on top of the transmission, closer to the firewall) and the codes have changed. Now I'm getting P0717.

Turns out there are two sensors that need replacing that are 99 00 specific.

The vehicle speed sensor

and

the input speed sensor.
