Ipd Poly Insert Installation

Recommended Posts

ended up using two bricks laying flat under each tire and just rode the car up on those ( ghetto i know) but gave me an extra couple inches of clearance. after that the install was super straight forward and easy. car drives great now. amazed at how tight everything feels up front. now it's time to get the sway bars on in the next few weeks

Hope it was only one layer of bricks, jeez!

Wish I noticed as big of a difference with the IPD inserts as you. Barely noticed anything :/

Chances are your bushings were already in pretty decent shape when you installed the inserts.

Unbolting the subframe with the car sitting on its wheels at an angle, what could possibly go wrong?

lol and the difference in having it up on a lift and going around one by one is....

so long as 3 of the 4 bolts are in place, the subframe isn't going anywhere.

but you're right, i should find a way to get under there without lifting the car or putting it on ANY sort of angle or putting the body under any stress like a lift, jack, jackstands or really *anything.. then nothing can go wrong.

yeah it was only one stack of bricks. just did two under each tire laying flat. gave me an extra 2-3 inches which was perfect for this job at least. my biggest difference in ride was the side hop. i come down the same exit ramp for work everyday and at the middle of the ramp is a big hump and i used to hit it and feel the car just slide over and the steering get a little weird. no it just points straight through the turn.

hey man it worked for you. maybe i'll scrap the ramps and just drive her up on something mild like you; car is stock height so shouldn't take much to get under there.

glad to hear they made a difference.. and for reasonably cheap! cool.

Ok... really? You can't see how having 60+ % of the car's weight resting on the front wheels while unbolting the subframe could be problematic? The subframe isn't an unflexing solid piece of unobtanium. You unbolt one corner, the load moves to the other three, shifting and flexing. You're doing that 4 times. There's not a snowball's chance in hell that it would be in the same place as when you started.

You don't need a lift, it can be done just as well with jackstands... but you need to support the chassis independently of the subframe while unbolting the subframe.
