Let me give you a hint, Volvo doesn't make any of them. Stuff like that is always subcontracted in the automotive industry to specialty suppliers. The "IPD HD" subframe bushing, a 8678497 in a Volvo bag and a "Scantech" 8678497 subframe bushing in the scantech bag are identical products from the same manufacturer. My guess would be scan tech makes a super cheap knock off or re-boxes from Febi (most likely) My understanding is that Volvo has never purchased parts from scan tech/ pro parts sweden. Scantech doesn't make shit, neither does world pac. They buy from manufacturing plants aka subcontracting. They can and may buy from the same plants from time to time but if they have different material and QC requirements you will get different results. Scantech could buy from the same exact manufacturing plant but if they spec substandard materials and processing techniques to cut cost the quality will and does suffer. Automotive manufacturers will require a certain amount of virgin material and make sure that all the parts pass certain QC tests per each lot to verify them. How bad is it? I have no plans of tracking the car and I want it to be comfortable, so the IPD hd's sound like they might be a nice compromise. The only added harshness or vibration I noticed when installed my bushings was that you can a subtle engine vibration at idle. When your moving it goes away. PNW20v Posted April 9, 2014 Report Share Posted April 9, 2014 Cool thanks. Just hoping I don't regret solid mounts now. I'm glad this subject came up. I've concluded in the past few weeks my subframe bushings are definitely on the way out. For the work required, I'm leaning towards solid mounts so I dont have to do them again anytime soon.
