ConorV70R
I was bored and decided to see if there were any shops in the area that do turbo work. stumbled across one and they offer this thing called a boost blanket??? has anyone heard of this or used one or anything? most stuff online seems to be powerstroke guys talking about them. just really curious to find out if they are gimmicky or worth while
NEU
Got one on my 19t, along with the DP wrapped. Keeps the turbo nice and warm and keeps the heat down in the engine bay. Also keeps the whooshing noise down a bit too.
Yellow95
Neu- I think you should paint some stuff in your engine compartment red before Carlisle. Give it some thought.
NEU
Oh I'll paint something red for you.
Piston Slapper
Also keeps the whooshing noise down a bit too. Why in the world would anyone want to do that?
NEU
Why in the world would anyone want to do that? I said it keeps it "down a bit" Not make it silent! A little whooshing isn't a bad thing, a lot of whooshing just gets annoying. Yep I said it! I'm offically filling my OMC shoes. Right Gary? Zappo
I have a blanket for my GT turbos, but I don't use it as it interferes with the wastegate. I do use a heat shield on it as well as wrap on the DP. It does help keep the heat down.
ConorV70R
Neu, does the one you have interfere with the wastegate? and if not where do you pick these up and whats the pricing like on them? curious because i'm doing the downpipe soon and have that heat wrapped and would like to do this to keep temps down as much as possible this summer
S8ET6
The first one that I purchased interfered with my internal wastegate, so I ordered this one on ebay: turbo shield for internal waste gate hasn't arrived yet, so I can't give any feed back on it yet
NEU
I've had it on for a couple years. It's from CXRacing, I picked it up on eBay, cost about $50. It's for a GT25 GT28 TD04 TD05 16G 18G T3 size turbo. Mine wraps around the sides and isn't open like the one above. I think it's just a bit to small though width wise, to doesn't completely cover the downpipe flange which is exposed in my pic. It doesn't interfer with the WGA arm at all. Maybe when I get another one I may increase to a larger size to get it to cover the flange completely.
