Über855R
I need to figure out how to add a wire to the steering wheel or utilize one that is there already to be able to add a control to the wheel. The option that we are looking at now is using the horn wire, which is a poor option. It uses a brush which keeps contact but not permanently, i.e. it cuts out for brief seconds. This is unacceptable because the control we are adding is a throttle control for my new hand controls. How can I add a wire that won't get tangled, or broken from repeated turning of the wheel? HELP! It needs to happen tomorrow, give me all your ideas.
Kraske
Get a different clock spring with more wires in it? Maybe one from a newer model with steering wheel stereo controls or something.

This is time sensitive, help me out here.
Rod'sT-5
Its been awhile since I've had an 850 wheel off, but it seems to me the horn goes thru the clock spring, not a contact ring. Not sure tho. Rod

Not sure tho. Rod I wish, the airbag goes through the clock spring. The horn through a ring with a brush connection (contact ring). Wondering if one of the wires for the airbag could be used and run the airbag wire through the horn, then the horn through an auxiliary button? Would probably work but I need to know the wiring for the airbag and which wire could have momentary cutouts and still allow the airbag to function without a warning light? Rod'sT-5
I would not play with the air bag wiring at all. What about the coiled wire (like on an old CB mic) like they use in NASCAR? but they dont have 4 turns lock to lock! Rod
claymore
I know this is UK ebay, but would something like this do?, this is what I have on my track car. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-Electronics-Race-Rally-Racing-Coiled-Cable-Ideal-For-Steering-Wheels-/310846663067?pt=UK_Car_Parts_Vehicles_Automobila_ET&var=&hash=item485fe7a99b
Über855R
I like the idea, how would that look installed? Would it sit inside the airbag area or wrap around the wheel as I turn? A bit confused how to visualize the end result at the moment.
claymore
yes, it wraps around the wheel as you turn it.
Über855R
Alright, this is a pretty good option. If you had the choice between a coiled wire turning with the wheel and a wireless device that needs charging, what would be some of the things that would sway your decision? Rod'sT-5
With something as important as throttle control, not sure if I would trust wireless. Just make sure you have plenty of slack when you turn the wheel. How are you controlling the throttle? Rod

Rod I am using something made by Guido Simplex, it is an italian made throttle control interfacing through a ring mounted on the wheel.
