FrankenMoose
So, the engine builder called and said the ENEM Cams seem to be mismarked for timing. They said "The markings on the end plate are 180Deg off". Anyone had this issue with the ENEM Cams? I can't find any install information on their website, or EST for that matter (where I bought them from). As soon as I get this solved, I'll have my engine. Thanks. lookforjoe
They have to be set by lift (at true TDC, not Volvo marker), you can't use the stock setup procedure. If you have the Y21's that use the VVT hubs, be very certain that they don't try to torque the hubs using the Volvo cam locking tool at the back. You HAVE to strap the two hubs together, I used an old timing belt - in order to torque the hubs. You will shear the end cap pin off the cam, and then you're fucked. This means you need a cut up cam cover to bolt the cams with access to the lifters, so you can set the lift. Basically a set of cam bearing journal caps. EDIT - it's all in that old thread Andy linked, I forgot all that... Johan's post #19 explains it best.

I thought you posted that Enem would change that after your issues?
lookforjoe
They said they were changing the design. When I got the new RN (Enem) cams with old style hubs, the end caps are still pinned in such a way that using the locking tool would be unwise for Y21 version.
