I didn't even see the post that they're 17x8. Any reason you didn't go 18"? They fit so much better. 17x8 on these cars is a waste of time and money.

yep should've done 18X8 and run 235/35

235/40 is stock for 18s and looks much lower pro than you think. 235/35 on 19s would still meet factory fitment and is what I'm running, but 235/35/18 just for the sake of lowering the sidewall profile is not the way to go.

Actually, they are 18s, with 235 40 18 tires lol. I think it's the tread pattern on the tires that make them look bigger / aggressive.

Front will stay current ride height, I'm looking for fear lowering springs for the VR, but so is every other v70r guy

I think with the rear lowered, which you already addressed, it will look much better. With that said though, it looks great as it is now too. I actually quite like the look of meaty tires.

One slight thing that bugs me though, are the missing center caps. lol

iPd ram air intake for $35, becuase I refuse to pay $90

EllcIo6.jpg

got some scrap stainless, tig'd it up, drilled a hole in the airbox, viola, $3 in material, 10 minutes in labor

EllcIo6.jpg

O' Reily flexible duct piping, used on older carburated cars, works perfect in regards to forming the hose around parts in the engine bay - $7

tnrvCyz.jpg

Nick from Re-Volv had an iPd foglight grill air scoop from one of the cars he was parting, $20 shipped

hose clamp, was laying around somewhere

result

Impressions: useless driving around town, useless between standstill and 75 mph. 75+ mph is where you feel the extra air kick in, the 75-100 sprint is noticeably faster

Been busying with remodeling my house, so I havent really done much the VR in the past month and a half. Priorites!

But, George @ ViVA was selling a used S60 T5 Sport steering wheel, so I scooped it up

Also got rid of the ugly iPd potato gauge pod, went with a CFWerks door pod, looks much better, and easier to see at night

Currently trying to mess with my GPS, cant get it to work, and its pissing me off. I think ill be doing an Android retrofit in the near future.

You should spray the pod with some textured paint. It would blend in much better.

But what about the poor hardware?

According to frank at EST, I might be the first person to run hayakus on a P2 VR. Interesting

Nice. Only thing I'm not crazy about is the color. When I get mine they'll be getting powdercoated.

Im considering going gloss black like Marco Baldouc's (spelling) but im still on the fence about it. dont want the murdered out look, but gun metal is a bit too over done.

I agree with you on that. On a white car that color would be nice imo. I got a couple colors in mind but still deciding.

Ok update!

I took advantage of Snabb's black friday Sale, so I pulled the trigger on a big Snabb FMIC kit. I could have saved money by going a custom route, but in the end, the spending the extra money was better than getting pissed by making a custom kit and having poor fitment.

The whole kit:

1/2 way installed:

90% installed

The metal charge pipe makes the kit worth the money in my opinion. Phuzzy FMIC uses the stock plastic (06-07) or aluminium (04-05) charge pipe, and the fitment is crap.

Installed, but off center. Going to adjust it sometime this week, I ran out of time / sunlight, so I couldnt get it perfectly center

Quick review of the snabb fmic: It looks good, the fitment is better than a Phuzzy FMIC, I started around 11:30, had the car up and running with bumper / everything around 4:45 PM. Snabb includes instructions with the kit, but they kind of sucked. I just threw the instructions out and pieced it together, pretty self explanitory really

When I bought the car, the factory nav worked. But for the last 3 months, the GPS kept acting up, I got sick of it so I proceeded to do a nav retrofit.

Gutting the stock display assembly:

Test to make sure everything turns on and i didnt kill a component with stray static:

NAV hooked up to 12V, working

Installed. I still need to figure out how to make the display go up and down like the OEM Nav. Im planning on putting a factory look alike button (say, a DTSC button) in the accessory panel below the CCM to make the nav to pop up / go down. the motor for the display is currently disconnected, so its up all the time. I took apart the power adapter for the nav unit and hooked it into the car. Currently, when I turn the car on, the NAV unit gets power from switched 12V. After I finish driving, the power shuts off, and the nav unit is set up to turn off 15 seconds after the external power has been removed (also has a battery). The unit I used is a garmin nuvi 65 LM, it is almost the exact screen size as the factory one. It took about 2 hours to take the factory nav unit apart / gut it / gut the garmin unit / trim it down to fit inside the factory screen housing. All in all, Im very pleased with it, when I get the motivation to mess with the motor ill drill some holes in the backing plate of the nav assembly to improve nav reception. As for the voice directions, I wired up the nav to the center speaker so that spoken directions are louder than the tiny speaker that is in the garmin
