Phil94850
Ive been chasing down a problem I cant figure out. When driving my car it feels like the steering is kinda loose. I have a little play and it doesn't feel tight and responsive as it should. Ive replace- struts, strut mounts, cv axles, both lower control arms, upper engine mount, drivers side wheel hub, inner and outer tie rods. the only other issues ive found is the front and rear lower engine mounts need replacing and of course the worst would be the steering rack. The car has 205k on it. any ideas ? can my mounts cause the loose feeling ?
hotpantslovebug
Level and condition of power steering fluid? Even a flush and refill might help.

Phil94850
took to a friend that works at a Volvo shop and he said he can see the rack arm on the drivers side moving up and down so id say that's my problem... when the subframe bushings go bad, how can you tell ? Kevin.
they pop at low speeds, suspension feels squishy. Given you have 200k+ miles it's probably time to do them and considering you need to replace the rack it's the perfect time! MC92
Had my steering rack replaced last summer, tightens the steering a little bit (or at least what it feels like to me).
Mybox855
Replace your sway bar end links. I just swapped mine out because my steering felt slack and loose and this helped out a bunch.
broken041
I encountered a rear subframe mount being worn. At highway speeds the car felt nervous. Darted with minimal driver input. Didn't always track perfectly. Just a thought.
Phil94850
Im planning on putting new sway bar links and replacing the rack and that hopefully will take care of it..
