SeanT
Didn't see any other topics on S70 battery replacements here on VS. Any recommendations would be appreciated! A couple mornings ago, I went to start my car and I just heard some clicks. Tried again, I got another click. The lights seemed a little dim in the car so I assumed my battery voltage somehow got pretty low since I last drove it (two days before). Anyways, I jumped it. Worked fine for two days. Tested the voltage on a ScanGauge II yesterday and when the car was first turned on, I was reading 12.9 V then it jumped up ranging between 13.4 V and 13.5 V. This morning, same thing happened again. Car wouldn't start. So I called my Volvo dealership and they said its been 7 years since the battery was replaced and the voltage shouldn't be any lower than 13.6 V. So I'm getting a new battery today. I don't know much about them though. What is a good brand and capacity that will actually fit in the stock Volvo housing? Volvo wanted to charge $280 for a new battery and installation. That's ridiculous; I'll do it myself anyway.
Kevin.
I use either OEM Volvo batteries or Interstate can't remember the cold cranking amps (CCA) that you want though
SeanT
Do I have an option between Reserve Capacity and Cold Cranking Amps? But I'm not sure CCA is even a big deal for me because I live in Atlanta. Which usually the coldest it gets in the winter is 30ºF, and it's generally parked in a garage which is a little warmer. db130
There are maybe 3 battery manufacturers in North America and no matter which brand you'll buy, it'll be made by one of the 3. Whichever brand you buy, go with a Group 48 battery (also known has a H6 battery) >previous discussion here
theForgottenone
I used both optima red and yellow top. For normal car, pick a red top from Costco and call it a day.
