matt1122
I will try updating this thread to keep track of meets planned in the NJ area (including the closest surrounding states) by myself or others. Upcoming Meets October 4, 2014 - Lehman Volvo & Volvo Club of York Fall Meet [Facebook] November 2, 2014 - Northern NJ Meet, Details Pending, Date Tentative (11/09/2014 is Alternate) 2015 Meets January 18, 2015 - Go Kart Race Day, Jersey City, NJ - Details coming at end of summer! April 2015 - Details Pending... May 15 - 17, 2015 - Carlisle Import and Kit Nationals [>Volvospeed] [Website] June 2015 - Details Pending... In the past, we've had a lot of parking lot meets where all we do is hang out in a parking lot. I'm going to be trying to help us move away from that to meets where we can meet in a parking lot, hang out for a while, and then take a scenic cruise somewhere as a group for those who are interested. Sjmcars recently set up a meet like this in King of Prussia, PA and I think it was a great idea. I'm looking for good locations in northern NJ and/or south-eastern NY to do the same thing. I will create a Facebook event for each of these as they come closer and will update this post with better location info, etc.Annual Meets The Carlisle Import & Kit Nationals are held each Spring in Carlisle, PA. This is a multi-day show at which some people camp out and barbecue and such. It's probably the biggest event in the NE among Volvo enthusiasts. Be sure to like the Volvos at Carlisle Facebook Page if you are interested in this event. The 2015 show will be help May 15th through 17th. Volvo Cars Owner's Day is sometimes hosted in the fall by Volvo Cars US at their headquarters in Rockleigh, NJ. This is a one-day event at which you can test-drive new Volvo models, see cool safety demonstrations, or just hang out in the parking lot with other Volvo enthusiasts. The last Owner's Day was held in September 2013. There will not be an Owner's Day in 2014. If you think anything else should be added to this thread, please let me know!Past Meets July 20, 2014 - Chili's in Paramus, NJ [>link] August 17, 2014 - Shake Shake, King of Prussia, PA [>link]
matt1122
Here are the details for the some of the locations mentioned above. Please see the event's individual thread (linked above) for other locations. Chili's Grill & Bar in Paramus, NJ Address: 75 New Jersey 17, Paramus, NJ 07652 Link to Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/iEwcN The Chili's is on the East side of the Garden State Plaza in Paramus. It is attached to the On the Border and right next to Rt. 17. There is also an exit for Garden State Plaza off of Rt 4. The Chili's is NOT in Garden State Plaza, but is right next to its parking lot. There is a big long parking lot next to the Chili's on the south side. This is where we will meet. Shake Shack in King of Prussia, PA Address: 233 Mall Blvd, King of Prussia, PA 19406 Link to Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/1mIj2 The Shake Shack is on the Northwest side of the King of Prussia Mall off the road which circles the mall. It is where the large teardrop marker is on the map above, not in the mall where the description is. Last time we met here, we met in the parking lot east of the restaurant. JOHN_CENA
So we can reach NEPA and western PA members, I recommend we hold them in Stroudsburg PA. About 75 minutes from Paramus, 45 minutes from Scranton, an hour from Allentown, so on, so forth
matt1122
I think alternating between a location in northern NJ, south/central NJ, and eastern PA would be best for the tristate group as a whole.Where specifically, though?Easton and King of Prussia are other locations I've heard suggested in the past for eastern PA. Lambertville/New Hope might not be bad either if we want to get rurual.
sjmcarz
Lambertville/New Hope is good for location, but there will be an issue with finding a legal large lot for all to meet. King of Prussia is good, other clubs meet there next to the Imax theatre and there are plenty of restaurants close by. Valley Forge park is also right there for those who would like to take in some scenery.
JOHN_CENA
I would definitely consider hosting a meet near my restaurant! Discounted food for anyone who comes!

Ghost Shadow
These meets like all the others are usually circle jerks besides Carlisle. There should be something to do or something to eat or something besides just standing there. Philly has pat's and geno steaks or better spot delassandros steaks and a large parking lot next to it. Dalessandro's Steaks & Hoagies http://goo.gl/maps/4G27W This place is a good Saturday afternoon meeting place in the summer time.
JOHN_CENA
Whats wrong with circle jerking? ;)

Steve, lots of restaurants in K of P and scenic Valley Forge Park close by. Dallesandros is not a convenient place to meet, neither is Pats or Genos. Ghost Shadow
Delassandros is a convenient place to meet. Google map it. There is a huge parking lot next to it with a large field. 1 mile from the green lane exit on 76. Kop. Is the mall parking lot. With restaurants. That means sitting down for a meal. Cheese steak is grab and go. What ever it is. ... it's better than standing in a chili's parking lot holding our dicks. Then people disappear into the restaurant. But this is good conversation none the less!
matt1122
If there are large meet-friendly parking lots near Pat's and Gino's we should probably do that at least once.I think it'd be nice to change things up, but I don't mind Chili's either given the short drive so I'm fine w/ w/e. sjmcarz
No lots near Pats and Genos, it's hard enough finding a spot for even one car, as it's in the heart of the city. There is a new restaurant called Shake Shack in K of P, in the mall parking lot, with lots of parking on either side of it. Burgers, shakes, and such, quick food and don't need to sit down. It would be a great place to meet, although when I discussed it with mall management last year, they didn't seem too thrilled and shot down the idea. Maybe if i talk with the actual Shake Shack manager I'll get a different response(they weren't open yet last year for me to talk with them). The lot next to the Imax theatre where other meets happen may not be regulated by the mall, maybe that's why meets are allowed there.
JOHN_CENA
I think Lehigh valley mall is also a great spot, Whitehall PA, right next to Allentown
