Clevite Rod Bearings?

Sorry to make a thread just for this but are these bearings more robust than OEM, and can anyone recommend them?

Only going to be running a billet 19t 18psi at normal revs, but am wondering if these will give me more room in the future. Probably going to leave my mains alone.

As per my email correspondence with them

"

Ok. It says "Notes: Conn Rod Bearing Set

Set of 5"

that's why I asked.

I just wanted to verify that this is a complete set of 5 bearing pairs:

From the information available it appears this type of bearing equals OEM low performance type bearings. The Volvo turbo bearings are "Sputter" type which can withstand higher load.

I don't know if Clevite has a clear equivalent of the Sputter type bearing sets.

You best next option is Federal Mogul /Glyco. They offer the Sputter type bearings.

I've built 2 motors using Clevite rod bearings. Not really high HP builds, but both motors are solid 300whp cars driven daily. 3 1/2 years on mine and about a year on my son's motor. Both cars are driven hard but, based on my son's rate of Meth usage, I'd say he drives his car harder than me. Nothing wrong with Clevite bearings.

Turbo GASOLINE or OEM on turbo DIESEL?

Can you confirm what engines were in fact equipped by Volvo with sputtered bearings?

Curious to know.

OP: Clevite makes good bearings. I've run CL 77's in a pretty agressive 9k rpm NA application with great results.

Same for my b230ft rebuild with MBC and somewhere around 80k with no issues at all.

Looking at the toga website and their different sized bearings...

Do people typically need undersized or oversized rod bearings? In other words do the journals wear out? Or is standard size sufficient assuming the crank was never worked on and that it is smooth/in good shape?

Toga High Performance (EDIT - can't get the link to the specific page :( Volvo/Bearings/Toga High Performance/TOGACOMBO-VOL02 ) - Standard Sized bearings is all I've ever needed. On the cranks with 100-150K miles I have dealt with, standard sizing has been fine.

However you should be measuring the crank before you order anything, to be safe. I had the cranks checked before I ordered, and was using new rods in each case.
