StoneS70
The Wife got rear ended by a teen texting and driving last week so we are in the market for a new ride for her. I've got a line on a 2004 C70 Vert that has a fresh $1800 service bill from the dealer last week and the wife is loving the idea of a convertible. There is also a 2004 S60 that could be a great candidate. I have owned over a dozen 850's and S70's but I have never owned a P2 car or a Volvo newer than a 1999. Any words of wisdom, big thinks to look for or notorious issues with either of these cars? Her daily commute is 35 miles one way so fuel economy and reliability are important to her. TIA for your help.
Timbo Slice
I'd almost guarantee she will enjoy a P2 a lot more than a P80. A lot of guys are starting to get into the P2 chassis after owning P80s and say that you will never go back. I am one of those people.
Ihatespeedbumps
^ Agreed. Plus the mere thought of using a P80 C70 as a DD is terrifying. One of the worst ride quality Volvo's on the road. How they sold those things new is beyond me. Go for the S60
flyfishing3
hope the wife is OK. the 04 vert is the last good year for those imo, or at least the last that a real person can work on. I'd go there. and make sure the top works, aligned perfect.
Mesoam
Most convertibles drive like sloppy turd but they are great. I'd look to see what prices of the hard top models are when was that 05? 06?
Timbo Slice
Yeah, new hardtop verts started in 2005. S60, as mentioned, is going to be much more comfortable. It's a no brainer for me, but then again I have a P2 now and love it.

I've seen very few top issues with the P1 C70's compared to the old cloth tops.
