mattsk8
This will be my first A/F gauge. I'm considering using this gauge here... http://www.amazon.com/AEM-30-4100-UEGO-Controller-Gauge/dp/B000CFQM4G#productDetails Any reason this isn't a good option?? Are there other options I should consider??
Simply Volvo
Order that one and be done. Easily the most popular guage on the market. My 14point7 broke 2 times before I ordered this and I haven't looked back since.
Tightmopedman9
I'll second that, it is a good gauge, have used it on multiple cars. I will however, say that there are more accurate gauges on the market for only $80 more. However, we're talking a margin of error of +/- .1 AFR over the course of a year of use. Also considering this one... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007ZAQLF6/ref=asc_df_B007ZAQLF63265399?smid=A7BGBK5DRMKFY&tag=pgmp-75-100-20&linkCode=df0&creative=395133&creativeASIN=B007ZAQLF6#productDetails I could use that^^ in the single gauge pod I already have, in place of the ipd boost gauge I have now. If I go with the cheaper AEM, I'll need to get a 3 gauge pod mount and probably put an oil pressure gauge in as well, which wouldn't be a bad idea, but would add about $100 to the cost of all this cuz I'd need to buy the pod mount plus the oil pressure gauge. So in the end the more expensive one ends up being cheaper, but I won't have an oil pressure gauge. Do both of those gauges do data logging?? Or just the more expensive one? Straight Five Junkie
Im also in the market for one. The thing I dont understand is will the A/F gauge read the same for e85 fuel or do I need to use a e85 specific gauge?
toasty
Also considering this one... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007ZAQLF6/ref=asc_df_B007ZAQLF63265399?smid=A7BGBK5DRMKFY&tag=pgmp-75-100-20&linkCode=df0&creative=395133&creativeASIN=B007ZAQLF6#productDetails I could use that^^ in the single gauge pod I already have, in place of the ipd boost gauge I have now. WTF, I just bought the AEM first wideband mentioned and 3 pillar pod b/c I didnt know about this one. This is great since one small pod and boom done deal. PalmFist
E85 stoich is somewhere around 9.5 I belive. The AEM guage will collect the data for either regular pump or E85 just fine.
Tightmopedman9
Matt, if you're going to be using TunerPro to tune you'll have no need for the extra capabilities of the second gauge (failsafe), although attaching a buzzer to the failsafe would be pretty neat. Both units have a 0-5V linear output, suitable for data acquisition to the ECU. @straightfive - A wideband measures the amount of oxygen in the exhaust stream, so its output is independent of fuel type used. The gauge measures Lamda and the conversion between Lambda and AFR varies based on the fuel you're using. Usually, people who run E85 just keep their gauges' running in gasoline mode, since they are more familiar with the standard AFRs for gasoline (14.7 for stoich, 16.4 for maximal MPG, etc.)

I think I'll go with the cheaper one just because I want the oil pressure gauge as well, curious where my engine's oil pressure is. I'll start the "How do I install an oil pressure gauge on my Volvo?" thread later
PalmFist
Kinda off topic: Did someone find out how to track the analog signal from a wideband afr in tunerpro yet?

lookforjoe
I like the AEM.Replacement sensors are not expensive either. Kinda off topic: Did someone find out how to track the analog signal from a wideband afr in tunerpro yet? The formula for the AEM analog output is already established . I've been logging thru the rear O2 pin (A34 I think ) with it in TunerPro since Feb
Tightmopedman9
I like the AEM.Replacement sensors are not expensive either. Replacement sensors are all the same, no matter the brand. Bosch LSU4.2. There are two WBO2 units that don't use the LSU4.2, and they use the LSU4.9 which is marginally more expensive.

gdog
I like the AEM as well but prefer the analog face (old school). Been working great. http://www.amazon.com/AEM-30-5130-Analog-Wideband-Ratio/dp/B004J2605Y I installed AFR and boost gauges in single DIN by the radio (installed single DIN radio so had extra DIN for gauges). Not the best location for viewing but makes for a cleaner dash IMO.
