２００１ｂｏｙ Posted August 20, 2014 Report Share Posted August 20, 2014 Hey whats up everyone, my first real post on here, would you look at that lifes a crazy thing huh?, anyway. My mother's 00 s70 seems to have each door lock actuator failing(?) but i'm trying to understand exactly how the locking system on these work. I know more about RWDs and i'm still pretty new to whiteblocks which i would love to start learning more about hence why i've started actively being on here. (rollercoaster) Mike and i tried to replace the drivers side actuator but i was sold an actuator from a later model s60 or v70. The original problem presents itself in heat, which i believe is the thermo switch in the (door lock actuator?) going bad and i think can be bypassed from what ive looked up, which renders the remote useless on the door(s) (sometimes all or sometimes all but the drivers). It also has started to happen if you unlock and lock the doors a bunch of times. My old 940 had central locking system im pretty familiar with so once the drivers lock was down all others would go down and vice versa. Is this the same for my mothers car via the keyhole? or is my first guess right and each one is failing? We're trying to get it so at least the key works on the drivers side door so she isn't locked out when the remote wants to play dumb dumb and not work. yesterday after letting the car sit for about 10 mins the remote / locks would work fine, but then they would start making a noise as if they wanted to go up, but with very little power, failing to do so. Its pretty frustrating. Volvo quotes 176$ for a new actuator but many are on sale for 40-50$ online used and claimed "working", im heading to college tomorrow so if i can atleast order the part for her (maybe even the other doors?) the labor rates from the dealership wont be too bad.. let me know what you think. thanks, excuse my noobiness and the book i just wrote kaiyre Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Reid sounds good, i may be fixing this once i visit home from college. the car's remote has been functioning fine now which never made any sense to me but i will keep you in mind.
