Generic OBD Error Code Details for P0798 Pressure Control Solenoid "C" Electrical What does this mean? OBD Code P0798refers to The Engine Control Module (ECM) uses signals from the vehicle speed sensor to detect the actual gear position (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th gear). Then the ECM compares the actual gear with the shift schedule in the ECM memory to detect mechanical troubles of the shift solenoid valves and valve body. Symptoms Possible sumptoms of OBD code P0798- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light) - Shift shock Causes Possible causes of OBD code P0798- Low transmission fluid level - Dirty transmission fluid - Faulty pressure control solenoid valve - Pressure control solenoid valve harness or connectors - Pressure control solenoid valve circuit is open or shorted The Error code is generally activated on detection of the following conditions: The P0798 is triggered when the ECM detects an open or short circuit in shift solenoid valves Sooo where do we start? LOL. Pulled and cleared codes, came right back. Car is dead slow in all gears. Makes a disturbing noise on start up, but not during drive or idle. (can get video but it wouldnt be till tonight.) Up arrow flashing Sorta clunks/bangs into reverse when shifted into it. Car has 151k miles, just had a tbelt at 150, so hes looking to keep it if it is only a few hundred to repair.
