Brindleboxer
Driving the XC90 tonight (2005 Auto) and when I pulled into a parking spot I could not shift into Park. The shifter will not go past Neutral so I immediately thought of a shift lock out but Volvo does not have a lock out in the traditional sense so no button to be found. Ended up pushing the truck out of the parking spot (luckily I had to push up a slight incline...sarcasm). Brought truck home (ran well on the 30 minutes drive home) and ran codes but none were logged. So I disconnected the battery since I cannot remove the key and the damn lights won't go off. Found a post on how to remove the shift lock cable from the ignition and was able to get the key out, I also removed the upper center console to inspect the shift linkage/mechanism and all looks as it should. I plan on jacking the truck up tomorrow and seeing if the linkage at the transmission will shift properly - if someone has the procedures or a link for accessing the linkage that would be appreciated. Unfortunately, I do not have the luxury of having this truck down for several days and if I cannot fix tomorrow then I will need to take to an Indy for repair - not favorable as I think of myself as mechanically competent. Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.
