Mattbchillin
Planning to use 10W30 in my 2000 V70 Base model. I live in massachusetts. Has 102K. Any other suggestion?
cupdriver91
I would use 5-30 synthetic thats what I use and have had no problems. It's lighter oil and makes for easier starts
andyb5
Agreed, stick with a 5/30 for the winter, you want the additional viscosity for cold starts. I run 5/30 in the winter and 10/40 once it warms up outside.
Piston Slapper
I've never found a problem with running 5w30 year round...
andyb5
5/30 is completely fine year round, no reason not to use it. Given the extra heat generated by the turbo when driven hard (autocross, etc) I opt for a slightly thicker oil in the warm months to help guard against premature wear. Keaton85
If it's an n/a, it doesnt really matter. I always lean toward a 40 weight over 30 as that's a US addiction. A 40 weight protects better over the long run. And 5w VS 10w won't make or break anything. Whatever is cheap and on sale for an N/A, doesn't need to be synthetic. Dont stress about it...
