hgray14
We have been 850 turbo drivers for years but the wife wants an XC70. We found a really nice one (2004) but it has the third row seating. We do not have kids, don't ever plan on using that seating, and intend to use this car for camping. We are concerned that it will take up some of the under-deck storage space. 1) Is the space under the deck different with and without the third row seating? 2) Can the third row seating be converted to non-third row or is it so much trouble that we should just look for a car without? Thanks for any advice you can give me. Houston
Ihatespeedbumps
Technically to convert to the 3rd row seat to a standard setup you'll need all of the rear cargo panels. To avoid replacing the top ones you could just unbolt the seat belts. The bottom panels are pretty easily interchangeable and will give you a ton more room over the 3rd row seat. Isawelvis
If you check on ebay you will find 3rd row seat for sale and they are not cheap. I am sure someone would be interested in buying yours. I recommend you post on local craiglist or a local volvo club and you will probably find someone to buy or sway out. I have a 04 V70 with out the third row seat and you have a lot of room behind the second seat to hold a lot of stuff. In fact depending on what type of shelf you have under the floor you can put a rear spare tire there. Good luck
