Bad Turbo - What New Parts When I Install A New One?

The ongoing saga of the blue smoke from my 1998 V70 T5 while boosting seems to have finally been resolved. I took the intake and downpipe off the turbo to check for shaft play and there is a lot of movement back and forth as well as some side to side. The movement back and forth is enough to make a clicking sound, and I would estimate the movement to be easily 1/8", maybe more. The turbo is a 16t.

I have another turbo to install and I was wondering if anything other than the oil return line gasket and o-ring should be replaced when I install the other turbo? Oil return line? Coolant lines? Etc?

I don't know why the turbo failed, but would like to avoid another one failing.

I do know that I can now explain the weird whine I heard the other day as the car was idling.

It definitely has a lot of in and out play and some side to side.

I don't think the cat is clogged as I have no symptoms. Car runs fine and has plenty of power. Nothing rattles when it is moved either. I know this because I disconnected the exhaust today to check the turbo. I suppose it could be partially clogged, but it just passed emissions a little while ago with numbers "like a new car" according to the tech who did the test.

Not sure about the cbv, but the turbo holds boost with no problem. I am running a tuned ecu at 16 psi, 3" exhaust, Japanifold, snabb intake and all silicone hoses. Everything seems to work as it should, it just belches smoke when boosting.
