car stalls when its warmed up

1999 V70R 203k, lots of deferred maintenance and I'm just trying to play catch up.

I replaced the ETM because the ETS light was on, and it kept dieing then there was no power. Once I did the ETM all was good for 150 miles, had to have it towed home yesterday due to a P0014 code and had no power and the car was running horrible. Today I replaced the VVT sensor and it started up great and ran like a champ, until it got warm, the ETS light came back on and I limped her home since I was staying close. No CEL came back up but I ran the codes and a P0013 showed up on the reader.

The negative battery cable is jacked and I know I need a new one (should have picked it up at the JY today), could that be causing it?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

I replaced the ETM with one from the JY and she ran fine for 150 miles. At that time a P0014 code came up and I replaced the VVT solenoid, I did make sure all the old gasket was off and cleaned out, but crazier things have happened.

She ran great after that with no codes untill it was warmed up and I had put 5 miles on it then i had to limp it home. The ETS light came back on and I'm getting a P0013 code. When I clear it the ETS light goes away and it runs fine until its completely warmed up.

I am currently playing catch up on this car for maintenance, right now I'm just trying to get it running with no major issues so I can smog it and actually register it in my name. I'm positive the PCV needs to be done, the timing belt looked fairly good (still will replace it), pretty much I need to do the full stage 0 plus some.

New vvt solenoid? Is it possible that when you were removing the old gasket, you got some into the ports? If everything checks out, might need to replace the hub, I've seen many go.

what is the hub?

It's on the end of the camshaft where the timing belt goes. The vvt solenoid regulates the oil pressure to the hub, which gives it the ability to advance or retard the timing. Intake hub is usually blue and exhaust is grey.

I have never seen a cam sensor go on an RN motor, but it's not to say it can't happen. It's not easy to replace the hub. Gotta lock the cams in the back of the head and remove timing belt. Then there is a procedure to properly install the new hub. While you're in there, might as well replace the cam seals. Then reinstall all components. There is a how to video on the home page of VS on hub replacement.

Ok well I now think it's the ETM, I replaced the negative battery cable today along with the cam sensor (you are right it wasn't bad the whole assembly was loose!!!!). Took it for a drive and withing 3 miles I came to a stop sign and it started acting up. Turned it off and back on, ETS light came on. So the VVT solenoid was bad and the cam sensor was "bad" and the negative battery cable was bad, all have been replaced, so now it's time to get a good ETM.
