Vincent L
I was looking online for a good oil solvent to do a flush, and I came across this stuff...Mega Power Oil Flush Treatmenthttp://www.auto-tune-up-and-repair-options.com/motor-oil-flush.htmlDoes anyone know about this stuff? And is it really that much better than whatever regular solvent one would use? That article claims that standard solvents just loosen the sludge and it re-settles elsewhere in the engine, increasing friction, but that this product holds it in suspension until extraction. kampman
You shouldn't need to use any sort of "engine flush" product if you change your oil regularly. That stuff looks like snake oil.

Vincent L
This is my fiancee's car, and the oil was not changed for close to 9000 miles last time, before that it was done regularly as far as I know. I am having issues with P0014 code...Bad Camshaft Position - Timing Overadvanced. I just had the T-Belt done, and it helped some (the check engine light will now go off for periods, when before it never went off). I ordered a new CVVT gasket so I can remove and clean the CVVT Solenoid, but it was also reccomended to do an oil flush.
Fran9690
You can use the BG stuff. Throw a can of EPR 109 with the old oil and idle for half hour. Then do an oil change and throw in a can of MOA 110. I did it in my car, runs noticeably better, over 200k on original engine. We use it on my shop, helps with cars that have minor oil consumption issues. Loosens up carbon on stuck rings and deposits. The two come in a package together. Fairly affordable too, it's under $40. Tightmopedman9
Engine 'flushes' are not a good idea unless you've done them regularly since the engine was new. Since there was a 9000 mile period when the engine oil wasn't changed, there is going to be a lot of built up sludge. When you use a product to loosen it, who knows where it will end up. Most will go into the filter, but some will go into areas where you don't want it, and potentially destroy the engine. If you're getting a VVT related code, then take the VVT solenoids off and clean them. Not a hard job to do.
