One step forward, three steps back

Hello everyone, so today I finally installed mt Xemodex ETM today and the car runs great! Went to go get in smogged and passed the tail pipe test great! but the OBD portion didn't go to well. After driving it around for 90 miles 3 codes popped up, P0013, P0455, and P1237. I have looked them up I am just hoping they can be clarified and what people have done to fix the issue.

My car is a 1999 V70R so far I have replaced the ETM with a Xemodex one, the VVT solenoid, the cam sensor, and the negative battery cable. Please let me know what you guys have done.

thanks

mike

So you have a cam position code, an evap code for a large leak, and a turbo boost code?

If you already changed the vvt solenoid and the code is still present, I would verify timing on your engine and make sure the hub is correctly installed and if it is, I would recommend replacement of the hub as the next step if it came to my shop. For the evap code, check the gas cap, the seal breaks a lot. Also check the j-hose and shut off valve at the canister connection. The hose cracks a lot, causing evap leaks. For the last one, check all your vacuum and boost lines, might need a new TCV.

great thanks! I've had the P0013 code (thats why the VVT and cam sensor are changed) and the other two just came up today. I'll check out the gas cap and everything else you mentioned. Thanks!

All the emissions gear on your wagon is located above the rear subframe.  Remove the fuel filter, and open the access panels in the trunk and you can get to nearly everything without too much frustration.

There isn't a "j-hose" on the AWDs, but there are still a few hoses that can leak/crack.  Check the evap purge solenoid on the cooling fan in the engine bay - the rubber elbow that connects the hard vacuum line from the rear of the car to the solenoid commonly tears.

For the 1237, check for tears in your TCV vacuum lines down by the turbo inlet/wastegate actuator.

When you installed the replacement VVT solenoid, did you install the updated gasket with a metal screen over the oil feed to the solenoid? This helps filter debris/sludge out of the solenoid, which is typically the cause of failures on those units.

I think the EVAP CEL was because the gas cap was loose, since I cleared it and checked the gasket (so I took it off then put it back on) that code has not come back. I did put the new gasket on with the screen on the VVT solenoid, should hopefully get the timing checked this weekend. And I know I need to check all the vac and turbo lines, that should also be done this weekend.
