Alright I have a 2000 S40 1.9 T

I am looking to upgrade the Speakers, CD Receiver and add some bass. But I have no idea what fits in my car and none of the places around, that i have talked too can't really tell me what fits and how well it will sound. Please help me! I am on the last of the stock speakers and looking to upgrade. just want some help in finding out some good equipment and maybe a wiring guide for my car as well.

Thanks!

Hmm. One of my friends (Sinbad on VS) has upgraded his 2000 S40 sound system. Using 2 amps, both with active cross-overs, he's running the stock door and dash speakers off one of them, and a 10 or 12" (can't remember) in the trunk off the other amp. Highpass filter on the stock speakers with a good amp produced an incredible result, both clarity and volume! The sub just pushes the low end! And it pushes hard. He's running a Pioneer aftermarket single height HU. It's a really good sound!

Hiya

Am running a Pioneer Premier head unit. Chosen for its 3 Pre-outs and decent MP3 performance...

The amp driving the doors/dash is a Clarion APA 4100 (ancient) that I've had stashed away for years. Original radio was the HU501 if I remember right. Radio/Tape (no cd) so I don't imagine the speakers were anything special, but they sound pretty damned good now :)

The amp driving the Sub is an 800W Starsound. Not known for its clarity, but with bass who needs it? ;) The clarion amp is a very clear one.

I am not using the crossovers on the amps - the headunit has all the functionality built in (HPF at 80hz on the one amp, LPF@125Hz on the sub out - I like some crossover between the two)

Sub is a 12" infinity custom built into a box by my local audio shop.

There's pics at http://www.keybaud.org/gal/volvo :) It's not necessarily the neatest installation on the planet, but it sounds ok ;)
