Domo
I'm changing my friends rear shocks on his 05 v70r the right side was out in about 2min, the left side lower mount is seized/rusted on to the lower control arm I have been soaking it pb blaster and other products for days now with the no change, any ideas as to what else I can try I'm thinking about cutting the shock mount then cutting the rubber and getting some vice grips on the sleeve so I can remove it from the lower control arm
BlackT5
Get a bigger pry bar? or try what you suggested. They can get pretty stuck on there.
Fran9690
Big prybar and a hammer. Has never given me trouble. Good luck.

Domo
Ok success got them out and changed last night now I just can't get them back in, do you have to pry the suspension down in order to get the shock assembly back into place? BlackT5
Nope, I just did this a few weeks ago. Driver side was easier for me, I was able to get the shock into position and bolted up top by myself. Still required someone to stand on the hub to get the suspension down far enough to pop the shock onto the lower control arm. For the passenger side, I needed someone to stand on the hub while I got the old assembly out, the new one in and then to get the shock on the control arm. Domo
ok I'll try that this evening, I noticed in vida, that they use a strap from the outer edge of each control arm and tighten the strap pulling both control arms down
BlackT5
I forgot to add that I did that too, but it didn't pull them down much. you will need someone elses weight on the hub regardless. I threaded a couple wheel bolts back in part way to make it easier to stand on
Fran9690
I use a big prybar to pull the lower control arm down to get the bottom of the shock into the slot.
Domo
ok all finished last night I was alone so I used a strap to pull the control arms down, then I had to put a jack in between the subframe and the lower arm in order to lower it more to get the lower shock mount on, almost caught the jack a couple of times with my head, and I also managed to disconnect the right side connector, couldn't test drive it last night but I started it and didn't get any error codes
