hgray14
2005 XC70My driver's side window will automatically roll up when the button is pushed but when it reaches the top (completely closed) it then automatically opens back up again. If I hold the button up, after a couple of seconds I hear a click and then it stays up (closed.)Is this a switch problem or something more serious? I'm hoping to simply replace the switch. ThanksHouston
Volvo5.0
Actually not a serious problem at all, if you have a working copy of Vida. Initializing the window position can be done through Vida. Profile the vehicle, go to vehicle communications, click on DDM, click on advanced tab, and select "initializing the window position", and follow the on screen instructions. If you don't have Vida you'll be at the mercy of the dealer... Midnight Caller
It can be done without VIDA and DiCE. The procedure is here somewhere. It's a succession of steps including locking the doors, ignition on, off,etc
hgray14
Ah, so it just got out of sync somehow. I've got one of the softwares like VIDA but no hardware. I did a search on here but couldn't find instructions on how to do the initializing manually but I'll keep looking. Thanks!
Fran9690
I have a Matco MaxMe scan tool and it can do window initialization. A decent scan tool will be able to do it, not just a lower end code reader. That and VIDA, are your only options really. I haven't heard of a way of initializing them manually through the car without VIDA, not saying it doesn't exist though. At my shop, we charge .5 to reinitialize all the windows and lube the tracks. On a rare occasion, the window won't initialize or will lose its initialization not long after it leaves the dealer and usually sets a hall sensor DTC in the DDM or PDM. If that happens, the regulator is usually the culprit and will require replacement.
Volvo5.0
I'm pretty sure it can be done with my Autel Maxisys Pro also. So you aren't necessarily at the mercy of the dealer. I'd be curious to know the manual procedure that Midnight Caller suggested also.
