17" OEM wheel weights

hey guys, kind of a niche question here, but what are the LIGHTEST oem 17" volvo wheels (EXcluding titans and volans)..

picked up a high miles s60 T5 rocking heavy a$$ xc wheels with tire profiles out of control (too big)!

i dont want 18s as this will be a daily and tires would be cheaper @ 17"

looks-wise, i like the arakkis powdered something subtle.  i know pegs are heavy as heck..

give me ideas on light 17s for 02 s60 that would vibe please!   my 1st P2 car..

hey guys thank you for your responses..

Kevin:  i have TD 1.2s on my T-5R, no doubt they're great wheels dude..  im looking for an oem wheel though as im not wanting to spend *too much..  i know they're heavy, but they're cheap!  im looking for the lighter of the heavy (if that makes sense haha)

Josh:  i was actually thinking about tethy's.  super basic wheel, easily had, etc.  17X7 so i could throw on some 215 40s and not break bank.  thank you for your input.  both of you.

anybody know weight of arakkis vs tethy's?

please, if you know an oem wheel even lighter, or something you've seen to look decent on an s60, i'd love to hear =)

cool dude that'd be awesome..  that can kinda be used as a *loose baseline for any 17X7.0/5 oem wheel within a pound or two i'd imagine?

any of you guys who have tire-less oem wheels that'd care to weigh em' would be MUCH appreciated!

thank you

IPD has an OEM wheel weight page Seems like the big weight savings is if you do a narrower rim (7" vs. 7.5-8") for OEM. Most of them are in the low 20's, I know my Titans are 21lbs, Thors are 22lbs. Tethys are 22lbs and Arrakis are 23lbs according to IPD.

The Segin off a XC60 are the wides, lightest wheels according to that chart at 20lbs and 7.5" wide. But aren't terribly attractive.

haha, yah dude, i'd spare the pound to go with something better looking for sure!

thank you so much though, that's GREAT info.  beyond cost of larger wheel/tire combo is ALWAYS the added weight (obviously).  im going oem to save some dough, and keeping it 17" to save weight.

if i remember correctly, 1lb stationary = 4lbs rotationally..  so this does make a difference!

the good thing about 7.0 vs 7.5 is you can still get away with the same tire width..  i'd still throw on 215s on 7.0 as i would 7.5

thank you guys for all the input and info..  please keep it coming -  i never even knew about Segin's.  im sure there is plenty more options, weights and sizes we're all curious about!

ha you're probably right :a-farmboy:

i wouldn't notice a pound..

i would say though, i *think you'd notice them 20lb Segin's vs. 23lb Arakkis'

before i put my TD 1.2s on my R, i was running a set of Borbets (they were cheap, like $600 new).  they were 3-3.5lbs heavier than the TDs and i absolutely noticed..  took a little more uumph on the brake pedal to stop and a little more squeeze on the gas pedal to start.  also, cruising/coasting was noticeably easier (with the added rotational mass at each wheel).  BOTH wheels were 18X8.

dude YES.  even stoptech 2pc rotors are far heavier than stock..  so you can imagine how heavy the porsche/s60r rotors kit is!

if i recall correctly, the SR rotors are 21lbs and the stoptech's i weighed in at 17lbs.  stocks were 14lbs. i used to have pics of the scale on my old computer..

the largest difference was burn outs..  which told me i lost/had LESS power to the ground.  i used to burn through 1st, 2nd and lightly chirp 3rd.  after the stoptech kit the burning out wasn't as crazy through 2nd and there was no longer even a prayer for 3rd gear chirp.  it makes sense when you consider having to turn more weight..

when i'd first gotten my T-5R, i remember getting an iPd stage 1 tune running stock brakes and stock titans and burning out for dayzzz...  like having to let off for it to stop.

now, since upgrading tires, wheels and brakes - i couldn't burn out like that if i tried (stock:  205/45/17, 11" rotors, 21lbs titans) (upgrade:  225/35/18, 13" rotors, 19.8lbs TD 1.2s)

im running custom blue tune @20psi on 18t and whites and STILL can't burn out like i did with 15g, iPd stage 1 and oranges lol.

weight matters!!
