woodstock
I just bought a 2003 S60 to replace my 2004 V70, and I would like to know if anyone has used the center console from a 2004 v70 to replace the one in a 2003 S60? The one in the S60 I just bought is missing the cup holder cover, and the one in the 2004 V70 is cleaner and just a better design. Does anyone know for sure if this can be transplanted easily enough? wizzard_al
there was a change in around 2004, but I put a V70 center console into my '01 S60 T5, and had no problems. Only difficulty I had was the slightly different color, and the armrest was different, but it was nicer than the S60 one. Just checked on VIDA, the 2003 and 2005 V70 center consoles are the same, so you should have no problem. Even though the V70 console might be slightly different, it is the same tunnel and mounting points, so should be easily done.

Going on your advice I went out this morning and did the swap, and as you said it worked perfectly. I would imagine both cars need to be manual transmissions as they are in my case, or both would need to be automatics. In my case the interior colors matched exactly so that was nice. For anyone thinking of doing this swap it is quite easy. There are only 4 screws, 2 at the front of the console under the pen holder which pops right out with a screwdriver, and 2 more under the rubber mat in the bottom of the console on the 04 v70, and under the take out tray in the 03 s60. Then pop the park brake cover off and pull up and over the handle to remove, and for the shifter handle the is a clip you press the sides and slide down then lift off the shift knob. Unplug the lighter wire, and remove. While they were out I cleaned each one with a scrub brush and plenty of soapy water and sprayed off with a hose. Nice to do while they are out of the car. Even with that the whole swap for both cars only took a couple of hours.
wizzard_al
Actually, they don't both need to be automatics, the center console is the same for either, just the cover plate for the shifter changes. But it is a pain to try to find a manual shifter plate and lever. Best best is to look at junkyards in Sweden.
