Glenn
My daughter lives at a great distance from me, so I do my best to help her decide what to do with her 2002 S60. For over a year her dash has been dead and she can't open the trunk. I know she needs the dash computer solder joints done according to what I read in here. She can't afford it now. Now... when she is turning in to a parking lot... her car dies. It starts back up every time. If I were to go down to her... what would I be looking at... a loose wire? ...bad connection? It dies turning in both directions. It only happens at slow speeds... not fast. Thanks
Ihatespeedbumps
Easiest place to start, any codes stored?
Glenn
Easiest place to start, any codes stored? She went today and scanned it at an auto parts store. She said p2097. She just added that it only happens while breaking and turning... like in to a driveway, or parking lot. It never happens from turning... or breaking. Midnight Caller
Maybe a bad steering rack putting a strain on the belt and engine ? Only dies on idling or also when in gear ?
Glenn
Maybe a bad steering rack putting a strain on the belt and engine ? Only dies on idling or also when in gear ?It never dies except when breaking-slowing down-turning, like in to a drive way or parking lot. It never dies breaking slowing down going straight, or turning... only breaking-turning at slow speed.
thedrill
Going off the code, you may have an air leak causing a rich condition.. I recently changed split vacuum lines on 2x s60's, the ones from the center of the intake manifold to the vacuum check valve that goes to the PCV system.. worth a look. troyhyde
Low speed engine cut-off (with the additional load of turning) makes me think the car might have a vac. leak or gunked up throttle. Can you send your daughter and OBD scan tool that will tell her fuel trims. Might add information that could help. Could be as simple as a loose intake hose to the throttle body.
