1999 c70 convertible 130k

The top on out c70 hasn't worked since I purchased it I finally decided to look at it now that winter is coming .

What I have found is the passenger side rear doesn't pull down all the way and also wont unlatch this I believe came out of adjustment from the previous owner messing with it  so that needs to be adjusted properly .

Now from me playing with it I have lost the spring for the rear micro switch and broken the 2 pins that hold it in the proper spot . Is there any place to purchase a new spring ? the switch I can repair.

I got the back to back to function enough for testing . The front is the part that the previous owner complained about . It will unlatch and go back a little bit maybe 6 inches then stops and wont move either direction the . you can here the motor sounds stressed it starts strong then you can here it slowing down . is there a way of testing the motor to see if its worn out ?

First of all, try to open/close manually the top with the keys that came with the car or fab some(easy), procedure is on the owner manual at the end almost. Dealer will lie to you and say "your car need 2 motors out of tree " $1400 +labor. Do your home work and you will see you can do it!

As ihatespeedbumps said, this is more of a dealer thing to diagnose. There are several position sensors in the top that the car references to know what position it is and how to time the top as it travels with all the moving components. You need VST to be able to pull the codes and see if exactly could be at fault, could just be a calibration issue, could be something more in depth. No way of knowing without having it scanned unfortunately.

Thanks for the info I'm going to try and get the back part of the roof recalibrated tomorrow and the micro switch back in found the spring once that's consistent ill move to the front to see what's binding or if the motor has just gotten worn out .
